I really like this unit. It was brainless to assemble and is easy to use. The power is good. I like that I can use even my battery from my Hyper Tough lawn mower (which I also love). I like how easy it is to dispense the line when it gets too short. The only thing I am not so fond of is that the line is very weak and you have to dispense it often which makes the line empty out faster than desired. But again, overall, I gave it 5 stars for the price and ease of use.
First off let me start with the fact I have become a Hyper Tough fan of the entire Hyper Tough line of tools and their 20v and 12v cordless line up. I have started a mowing business this year and purchased the 14 inch cordless weed eater that has handled everything I have came up against. From trimming grass to very thick weeds without any hesitation. The one and only drawback is that it doesn't come with a front guard to guide you around flowers or solar lights. It also doesn't have a edger wheel. So I bought the Hyper Tough 12 inch cordless weed eater. It has the flower guard and the edger wheel. It makes trimming a breeze. All I can say is the complete Hyper Tough 20v cordless tools are worth their weight in gold. I have the following items in my lawn mowing arsenal. 12 inch chainsaw, 8 inch pole saw, hedge trimmer/ grass sheer, the leaf blower. And 8 4amp batteries and 3 2 amp batteries and two fast chargers. As I said, I am a Hyper Tough Fan.
Can't believe how handy this gadget is! Telescoping handle and adjustable grip are life savers for my back. The power delivery is great, with effortless change between cutting modes. The product simplifies lawn duty and adds joy to my gardening days!
No charging power adapter, only a charging cable. And that cable is USB C to USB C. Luckily, I had one, most of my adapters are USB A. I knocked off a star for that... they cheaped out on it which is ridiculous. Easy to assemble, seems solid, lightweight. It is also lightweight in it's ability, so light trimming is what this is best for.
Impressive with the job done but can be a bit cumbersome in tight spots. While the trimmer is powerful and efficient, maneuvering around obstacles is sometimes not smooth. On the plus side, the battery life and quick string replacement process are commendable!
If you have a small yard and I mean very small this would be perfect. I would recommend to get a larger one if you have any overgrowth that needs to be weeded. This does not have a bump and go on the cord you have to stop the weed eater and manually pull the string out. It is good around flower beds.
The first use was fantastic! Then the string was tangled and broke off inside, had to have someone get the spool out as I could no longer open it. The second use was similar the third it lasted maybe 10 minutes. So combining the string being tangled on the spool and the spool taking extra strength to open I wouldn't recommend th8s trimmer. If that was solved I think it woul be great.
the battery included is not the universal battery type that all other lawn equipment uses. which means you are limited to a single included battery and can not use your existing batteries. the battery takes very long time to charge despite using a high wattage power adapter. assembly is more complicated and the quick start guide neglects to tell you that you need a screwdriver to remove the screws and reinstall them for the cutting guard attachment
You'd do better with a cheap corded weed eater than with this. It is incredibly weak. This will do well for basic maintenance on areas alongside walkways, weeds in flower gardens that you don't want to pull or very light duty trimming. It is not a real weed eater and is grossly over priced. The batter is USB charged. It takes hours to charge the battery and after 10 minutes of use the battery was already running out and needed recharging. Do not use this on tall grass. The Tall grass has the tendency to wrap itself around the base of the eater and you have to stop and pull it out. It's for maintained, short to medium weeds. I'm returning.
String is weak, breaks easily, and does not advance automatically or by bumping. Trimmer must be stopped, and turned upside down, in order to push a button to advance the string. Maybe this trimmer would be good for very light duty use, but operation is too time consuming for a "normal" suburban lawn.
