I wish they would make this tool available again. Walmart and hyper tough are missing out on a lot of sales on this tool alone. it's a great tool for the money. folks are going to other manufacturers and stores for a cordless orbital sander like this.
- Comfortable and ergonomic - Works well - Seems to hold a charge and charge quickly, but I have no comparison sander - Not having a cord is awesome! - My 13 and 15 year old boys used it with ease. - Glides nicely - Just guide it. Pressure does not need to be applied. - Pads stay in place well, but check frequently for wear around the edges. You will go through them pretty quickly.
I have purchased multiple Hyper Tough tools over the last few years, to use around my home. The quality is excellent, i have used it on all kinda of surfaces and materials. The battery life is great, I average 30 min of continuous use on wood, thats more than my have can stand.
This orbital sander is a powerhouse! I have an antique icebox with some damage and wanted to try to refinish it. This sander sanded it down to the bare bones in a matter of seconds. I didn't expect so much power from such a small tool. I had a small wedge sander (not orbital) and it took forever to do the job. I only wish I had propped my icebox up or laid it on it's side to get a flatter, more even result. On the downside, the dust catcher wasn't much help in this case so maybe sanding in the living room wasn't the best idea. Love the sander anyway!
I have several Hyper Tough tools from Walmart and except for the reciprocating saw I purchased I have been satisfied with that line of tools.
I have never had a cordless sander before. It is awesome not having to be near an outlet. It comes with everything needed to start a job. It does a very nice job sanding and the noise level is just like any other sander. This is a 5 inch orbtal sander. It is very easy to use and has a good grip surface. I found it to work very smoothly and evenly on the wood.
This review is for the Hyper Tough 20V 2.0Ah Lithium-ion 5-Inch Random Orbital Sander, Cordless. We needed a sander because I wanted to refinish my end table. My husband is the one who used it because I am not the best with tools but I watched him. We started yesterday and sanded down the furniture to prep it for the next step. We have sanded things before and used sanding paper and I have to say that will never happen again lol. This sander is way better than sand paper obviously but it is funny when use something so long and then try something so much better that the thing you used to rely on is now horrible haha. I love that this is not loud and you can hear eachother talk while it is being used. Being cordless is a huge plus and makes it much easier to maneuver around things. The rechargeable batteries works great. It carged fast and has not died yet after working for a few hours. It says the maximum grinding speed can reach 7,000-10,500 OPM. Not sure what that means but it is information you may want to know. Great product and this is the 5th Hyper Tough product I've owned. They have yet to disappoint.
The hyper tough orbital sander performed well for us. The sander is 20V battery operated. It includes the battery charger. The sander is easy to hold and maneuver during use. The battery included lasted long enough to sand a table for refurbishment. The battery included is 2.0 AH. We received an extra battery which lasted longer than the battery included. The extra battery is 20V 4.0 AH. Both batteries use the same charging station. It takes about 2 hours to charge battery. The sander weighs a little over 2 pounds and includes a dust collection bag. The sander has variable speed control and hook and loop pad. Overall I’m very happy with this sander. I do prefer the larger battery with it. The sander is great for do it yourself projects you may have. I do recommend to others.
Gets job done. Light weight
I'm an experienced woodworker who owns three belt sanders; one Craftsman and two Skils. I was simply looking to replace the 3 x 18 Skil that I already have. The Hyper Tough product appeared to be well constructed and I was looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately, I was unable to properly operate the belt lock/tension lever. The spring on the lever is unnecessarily strong, and would snap back as soon as I thought it would open! The only way I could get it open was with a pry tool. That's ridiculous. If you want to change belts easily, to use a finer grit for example, you don't want to wrestle with the sander to do this simple task. And of course there is no tension adjustment for the spring. I'm wondering all of these sanders have this problem or if its only the one I bought. So essentially, I have not sanded anything with it since I find it simply too difficult to use. I have read numerous reviews and not found any reference to this problem. There appear to be many other issue posted by those who have actually used the tool, so maybe it's best that I return it. Incidentally, the manufacturer does not "support" this tool, so technical assistance is a non-starter. A return to Walmart is the only option, which they are very willing to do.
