This is the perfect size for me to make my daughter the perfect portions for her meals. I've used it to make half a cup of rice, sear meat and then simmer for hours, sauté veggies, I mean you name it, this pot will get the job done. It is stove top and oven safe ( not the lid). It's perfect for dips or single serving meals.
I received this 0.5Qt Caldero (14cm) for free in exchange for an honest review. While it does the job for very small cooking tasks, the size is quite limited and best suited for single portions or small sides. One issue I noticed is the texture of the metal. The finish isn't smooth; it feels like it hasn't been properly filed or sanded, making it a little rough on the hands. This could be improved for better comfort and usability. Overall, it's functional but has some room for improvement, especially in the finish quality and its practicality due to the small size.
I first used this Calderon to hear up some soup on my stove top. It was so fast, and evenly heated through. I then used it to cook a small portion of rice and again, very fast and very even. This would be an amazing pot to have it you live alone and cook 1 person meals. It cleans up and seasons easily. I would love to get a big pot so I can cook for my family of 6 in it as well! Love this so much more than Teflon coated pots that aren't good for you!
I “needed” this because it's just myself I wanted to cook using a small item. But then I realized WHY am I paying 8.00 for delivery for such a small item. I quickly went back and cancelled BUT yet this company didn't take the time to see that. They had ample time to do this but they didn't. So I praise Walmart entity for satisfying this purchase. Thank you Walmart-Benjamin.
When this pot arrived it was much smaller than I expected. I should have looked into what size would better suit me. The edges are a little rough and the label was hard to remove. I decided to try it two ways. First on the stove top and made a cheese dip for friends and served on a tray with other items and it worked pretty well but hard to mix when making as small. Next i decided to make a dish for the oven. Cooked well and did not burn, although for one it was too much work. I like left overs so I don't cook every day. I was given this product to try in return for a review. If this is the size you need I recommend for me. I don't get what to do with one so small and wish I had more or a bigger one.
This product was a little too small for my needs. I am only a family of two but found that the amount of food I wanted to cook in it didn't fit comfortably in the caldero. I also had concerns about the quality of the cast-iron aluminum. I prefer using my enamel coated dutch oven for cooking.
While I get the idea behind this pot, I received the 0.5qt size and it's just too small for me to cook it. I think it would make for a cute presentation of a small dish, but I could never effectively cook inside a pot so tiny. I did use it to cook the remaining wax I had in a candle and that worked out very well.
I have been trying to replace my cookware with safe, non-toxic options and I'm just not sure about the safety of this product. I've read articles about aluminum leaching into foods, which can happen especially with leafy greens and acidic foods. As a vegetarian, that's mainly what I cook so it makes me not want to reach for this pan. The pan is also quite small so maybe not the most practical for anything I specifically would cook. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review.
I decided to warm up some rice in this. My friend uses one to make rice all the time but I didn't care for it. It stuck to the pan really easily and made it hard to move around. Plus this pan in particular was very small. Perhaps if it was bigger, it would've been easier to work with.
This pot was extremely small. I'm not sure what could even be cooked in it. I was able to boil 1 egg in it barely because the water was rising too high. The pot handles were so hot since they are metal. The Inner part of the handles were razor sharp. The label on the pot was hard to take off and left paper and glue . I would not purchase this mainly because the handles were so hot.
