Value for money

Prathmesh July 31, 2025

Worth the money. Easy to set up and deflate. Me and my 8 year old could set it up in 7 minutes flat. Stays stable on water and also bears weight of 2 adults easily. It's fun experience if you are getting into kayaking for the first time. I recommend it for a beginner.

Money well spent

Prathmesh July 20, 2025

The Kayak is pretty sturdy and stable. Me and my 8 year old daughter could set it up in 7 mins flat and could easily lift it to the launch location. It's a steal deal for that price point.

2 adults. Taken down river (8hr) trip. No air lost. Great buy for the money. Very sturdy. Even went over some rocks %26 branches(snags) with no problems. I bought better oars to go with, so we did not use the ones that came with it. Pumped up in less than 10 mins. Numbered air locations 1-5 made it easy. Comes with storage bag. Seats were sturdy. Drain hole inside, at end. Wish it came with oar holders but other than that- GREAT SUMMER PURCHASE!

Great kayak for beginners!

Ariz January 28, 2017

I don't have much experience kayaking, but bought this for kayaking in the mangroves. This is great quality for the price. I felt very safe in it (no worries about popping or tipping), it blows up very easily, and is a great solution for people who want to kayak but are low on funds and space.

Best purchase ever, for the money!

Ann V July 26, 2017

Love it! Great buy! Super fast shipping! Just what we needed to take to our beach house at OBX NC. It works best for us because it's portable, we can take it anywhere and put it away without taking up a lot of room. Kids can't get enough of it (ages 11 and 8). So far we have used it on the ocean side with our life vest. Best purchase ever!!! Thank You! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great compact kayak for money!

Ellja May 3, 2014

I did about a months research on a few different inflatable kayaks and always came to this one. I was a little Leary about buying it, because of where I would be using it. There tends to be high plant growth hiding just at water level which tends to be hard to see at times. I was concerned about getting a hole in bottom of kayak. Luckily one day I had been at the area where I want to use this and came across to guys who were using the same kayak! I got to see first hand what it was like before I bought it! So I bought it the next day! I just used it and I have no regrets. Lots of room, Max Weight is 400lbs. Oars are ok but are not long enough. I purchase a 96 inch paddle by shoreline. Which I recommend. Easy to inflate and doesn't take long. Since it was just me and alot of camera equipment I didn't bother putting second seat in. I am tall and had alot of room. The skeg even after running over a low area did not fall off. Steering is pretty good . All in all I think it is rated the best! Well worth it.

This boat is awesome, especially for such a great price. NOt cheapy like I expected and the paddles are really nice too. We used it on the river all summer. Pumps up really fast. Easy to carry. Easy to deflate. My tweens LOVED it. It was better to deal with then my 800$ boat. I wouldnt take it on super rocky class 3 rapids because its not that tough but it was sure good enough for a fun ride on easier waves etc.

Delivers as advertised!

SCpaddler July 10, 2014

At $96 and free shipping, this falls into the "no brainer" category. Being so inexpensive, I was a little cautious about it and did not let my expectations get too high. I got the package and all was there. I inflated it last night to make sure that it did not loose any air overnight. This morning it was still fully inflated - no leaks. Deflated it, took it to a waterfront park access to a tidal river. Inflated and in the water paddling within 10 minutes of arriving at the dock. It paddled very well and was faster than I expected. I was paddling against ~ a 2 kt current and a slight breeze and was able to easily cover a good distance in a half hour. I estimate that I could comfortably do about 4 to 5 kts over a long period of time in zero current water. The steg seems to work very well. I noticed that a few reviews were critical of the skeg since they stated that the steg is susceptible to coming off. I don' know if this was something that Intex did anything about , but the steg on my kayak connects VERY Snugly and LOCKS in place. I can't comprehend how the steg on the kayak that I have would fall off or be knocked loose by hitting something. I paddled solo, with the back seat moved up to the center as far a possible in the range of adjustment. The seat was reasonably comfortable. The back support is adequate, but not as good as a rigid kayak with a more expensive seat. My rating does not indicate that I think that it is comparable in performance to a rigid kayak, but for what it is, an inflatable, low cost, very portable boat, it delivers very well. I have not paddled any other inflatable kayak models or brands, but I would have a hard time believing that any other inflatable kayak would perform much better than this one. This is my second Intex product. I also have the Seahawk 2 and have caught many fish from that inflatable boat. The Seahawk 2 rows very well. If you are apartment bound without room (or budget) for a traditional boat, but would really like to get on the water, this the the boat for you!

Dollar for dollar, best inflatable kayak on market

Kroggers April 15, 2014

I paid $2.97 extra for shipping to get it on 4/11/14. Actually got it on 4/14/14. You can't go wrong with an Intex product. I have used the River Run 1 for the past 5 years and consider it the best inner tube there is. I felt it was time to upgrade. The features I like about the K2 Explorer are: 1) The 2 hulls have separate air chambers. 2) Its self bailing. No dumping out water 3) All the extras that come in the package. 4) 36 inches wide compared to the other models being 30 to 33 inches wide.

You get what you pay for

Not impressed July 26, 2025

Not sure why I expected much in terms of quality based on the purchase price but I had r back in the box and ready to return an hour after I opened it. Fully inflated it never looked like the photo. I didn't have confidence that I could go very far in it. It states that it can hold up to 400lbs but it when you read closer it's only good for 330lbs of people or 1 person with gear equaling 400lbs. Misleading information in the description.
