iRobot® Roomba® j7+ (7550) Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum – Identifies and avoids obstacles like pet waste & cords, Empties itself for 60 days, Smart Mapping, Works with Google, Ideal for Pet Hair

I've been an owner many years of a 690 Roomba and the J7+ is a quantum leap. It's fun to watch as you see the learning process and how it avoids things like my dogs, power cords and other items in its path. The roller brush system stays very clean and its much more efficient than the old brush system. I find it easy to clean and maintain. No more light towers like the old units. It maps your home and allows you to draw room boundaries, name your rooms and choose what rooms you are going to clean. I have a beagle/dachshund that sheds big time and again the improvement in technology is wonderful. No more dog hair! The self empty feature is wonderful and it's interesting that when the dirt container in the J7 fills, it scamper back quietly to its base and empties itself. Then amazingly it scampers right back to the spot it was cleaning and resumes finishing the cleaning. Same thing happens if the battery goes low. It scampers back to its dock and you get a message from the app that it is recharging with an estimate as to how long it will be before it resumes cleaning. Because it knows how much cleaning is left, you don't have to wait for a full charge too. I love that after it completes the map of your home shows the obstacles if any, that it encountered. Additionally you get pictures of obstacles and you can let the J7 know if those were temporary obstacles, or whether you want it to avoid that obstacle in the future. It's funny to see a picture of my dog laying down in its path. I notice that now if it gets in the path of my dog it will stop before hitting the dog, and turn another direction. It's quiet too. Much quieter than my old 690. My dogs pretty much ignore it as it moves along the floor. Also noticeable is that it will turn off the vacuum motor when it is traveling to specific rooms or when it is returning to its base. Fit and finish is good and yes it does not run over wires or cords or doggie droppings!

This one with the option to self empty is a game changer. I can tell the difference when I get home since I have a dog and a cat who love to lay and shed on the carpet. No more large tufts of fur laying about!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so incredibly excited to receive the iRobot j7+ to review. I have wanted a robot vacuum for a long time and this one doesn't disappoint! It cleans my large house effectively and saves me so much time. It's a little noisy, especially when it empties itself, but that is a small annoyance compared to the amount of work this little guy saves me. I love that you can set a schedule right from your phone so that the vacuum automatically runs. The self empty feature is great and the bags seem to be large enough to last and are inexpensive to replace. I like that the camera is located on the front of the machine. This seems to allow for better obstacle avoidance. I really can't think of a negative thing to say about this little machine. I just absolute love it! It would be nice if it was a tad quieter, but still 100% worth that minor annoyance. I haven't tried on carpet yet but it works fantastic on ceramic tile.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought a Roomba i3+ last year and was not impressed with it. The mapping wasn't great and it left clumps of my husky's hair all over the house. The new Roomba j7+ is amazing. After it's initial run through I knew it was lightyears ahead of my old (yet under a year old) Roomba. It's much quieter (except when it's emptying the bin, that's still as loud as an airplane). The mapping feature was easier to use and very efficient. The light and camera feature are excellent for reporting potential obstacle. I no longer have chunks of husky hair all over my house (which is most impressive). It gets the job done plus more. I would absolutely recommend this product to anybody and everybody!

Also love the sleek style and It doesn't take up much room at all and with 3 inside dogs 2 kids and a busy household in general it cleans great! It's so easy to pull up the app and get started! The time it saves me is the best part! I absolutely love this vacuum! Total game changer!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This roomba works amazingly well! I'm very impressed with it. It was so simple and easy to set up. The app is easy to use and navigate. It does a great job at cleaning my floors and carpets. The suction is powerful and it sweeps things underneath it with its sweeping arm. It gets all the crumbs and pet hairs up nicely. My carpets look great all the time now! It also makes it so easy to keep my kitchen and dining room floors clean. I don't have to sweep as much and I rarely have to drag out my regular vaccum anymore. It even gets under my couch and under the tables. The round shape makes it easy for it to get corners cleaned. The best thing is that it maps out your house. So it knows exactly where its going and it goes back to its base when its done. It only took going around my house 2 times for my roomba to know exactly where to go and to create a map of my entire house. It seemed a little slow and lost at first but now it goes around quickly and leaves nice even lines in the carpet. I can also choose which room I want it to clean and it goes straight there. I can also choose for it to clean the whole house or just a couple different rooms. It charges quickly and doesn't die out during cleaning. It has a self cleaning base that charges it everytime it goes back, so its always ready to go. Its very quiet, I can barely hear it running. The only time it makes a loud noise is when it empties and that only lasts a few seconds. This is a really great product and I definitely recommend it. It runs great and picks up everything. The app works well and is easy to set up. It makes housework so much easier and the house so much cleaner.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a big fan of all things irobot. Before getting the j7 (which I named Rosie), I had the Roomba 891 and the mop (both which I have also loved). The j7 is a whole new ballgame. This little robot is a powerhouse. It has a long run time, maps the rooms to learn where the obstacles are, goes easily from my rugs and carpets to my hardwoods, has crazy suction power and then best of all- empties itself! I have a small dog in the house and was even surprised when it learned where I laid the puppy pad in our laundry room and now doesn't go near it (my past model would have just sucked that puppy pad right up, resulting in an error message). The J7 (Rosie) is quiet except for when it empties itself out. It startled me the first time it did so. It's so quiet that you forget it's running but when it does back on the dock to empty out, it sounds like a jet is on the runway in your house! lol This isn't enough for me not to still love my robot but I had thought I could run it at night but now see that I can't because of the loudness when it empties. The home base has little bags inside similar to old fashion vacuum cleaner bags that fill up and you just throw the bag/trash away. It came with 2 bags and I have already ordered more for when they get full. The j7 set up easily in my app along with my other roomba's. I used the app to send it back to the home base very easily. The j7 has a much longer run time than my previous roomba and another great feature is that when the j7 gets low on battery, it takes itself back to the home base. I have a lot of furniture and stairs in my home and the j7 has navigated all of this with ease. The funny thing is that I dont know exactly how much it's sucking up because I dont actually see the trash now. In my older model, I had to clean the bin out so I saw exactly how much was getting cleaned out (which is oddly very satisfying) but with the j7, since it empties out into the bag (the bag is not see through), you know it is sucking up lint, dirt ect but you don't get the "oh wow" factor of seeing exactly how many dust bunnies were under the bed. I would give the j7 a 4.5 starts out of 5 - only taking off al little because of the loudness of the empty out process. I really don't know how I did it before I had the Roomba and I have told my family and friends they don't know what they are missing without one! Worth every penny!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love our new irobot! It's perfect for everyday cleaning. We are a busy family with 2 older kids and 2 large dogs. It's perfect for picking up everyday messes and dog hair. We've noticed since we've been using it, it has also cut down a lot of the dust in the air. Our only complaint is that it is very noisy. We cannot run it during bedtime because the bin cleaner sounds like a jet engine. We also have to clean out the bin every few days because the sensors get dirty but because the bin (not the filter though!) Is washable, it's super easy to do!

I wrote a big review, but it was not accepted by the web site. here I will send pictures of what this did to my oriental hand made carpets with it's rubber rollers. I called and asked if they carry replacement rollers that are not rubber, just like brush , like all other carpet. but they said no. so please do not buy or use for carpet

Bought this specifically bc I have dogs. Leaves so much hair behind! Called and was told I need to clean spindles of "brushes" every time. No matter how diligent I am or if I make smaller areas, it will not pick up hair. It's become worthless after 8mo.
