I ordered as a wedding present. Originally I ordered from Amazon. The packaging was trashed and it looked like it was sent to somebody else first, and returned, Then that same package e was sent out to me. Not exactly a very flattering package to give us a gift to someone, but the package I received from Walmart came in perfect shape. It arrived on time within two days. It saved me. Thank you.
The whole set allows you to work with most foods. ( no cleaver for hacking bones** ) You will find the self sharpening base a very cool idea to keep your knifes ready at all times. ** You dont need a cleaver when your dealing with normal meat.
This is my first real knife purchase and I am so so incredibly pleased! The quality is amazing and I am kicking myself for waiting so long to order quality knives! The block looks so nice and I love that my knives will always be sharp.
Henckel makes several Knife sets in China and also in Solingen Germany. I only have the German made ones because there is absolutely no comparison, except this particular Graphite edition. It is way better than the made in Germany (similar knife set) and only a fraction of the price point. This statement is from a person who has a residence right beside the factory and is a professional International award winning master Chef. It takes a lot to admit that this China set is better than the German made and the plus is that its sharpen the knife's at the same time of use. The German Set which I got for my wife gets dull fast and the Graphite stays in perfect working order. I highly recommend this knife set for household use.
We have had the same knives for about 12 yrs. I know this is a good brand, so when we saw them on sale for Black Friday we bought ourselves a Christmas present, ha-ha. They are amazing! They cut effortlessly and are comfortable to hold. The block itself is beautiful, and I love the built-in sharpener. They are also very sharp! I knicked myself a couple of days ago, nothing major, but it was a good cut all the same. We bought cutting gloves, which I highly recommend! Especially if you're accident prone like myself...
These knives are okay. The block came with the top panel unglued and had to be fixed right away. The stand takes up a large space on counter. The knives are not as sharp as I expected them to be for the price. Kinda heavy and bulky especially for small hands. If I had it to do over I would probably purchase a different set.
These are good knives! The only drawback I have is that they easily get rust spots. It comes off with a little scrubbing, but it’s a bit annoying. Otherwise they’re the best knives I’ve ever had. Better than my Cutco ones. I still recommend them. I’d buy them again.
I bought this set of knives as a Christmas gift for my wife this past December. Not even a year later and just about every knife has rust spots and the coat on the handles are peeling off yet in the description it claims to be dishwasher safe. Don't waste your money on these knives. I wish I could get a refund for these but it's too late for that. I'll be contacting the company directly about this.
We got the knife set on deep discount around Christmas. We thought we got a heck of a deal. Turns out you have to hand wash these because they will rust immediately in the dishwasher. My dishwasher even pops open once it's done to dry so it's not like they stay in there wet. Overall I would not buy this again and I am not impressed at all.
My problem is the Walmart add showed the original cost as $657.00 and advertised a savings of some $520.00 which is a great deal. After my purchase I happened to look online to find the regular cost was $175 - $200. Knowing this brand does have high end merchandise, I was fooled to think that was what I was buying (I own Henckel chef knife that cost $300 alone) was of high end. False savings!!
