I LOVE THIS JANOME MOD-100 100 STITCH COMPUTERIZED SEWING MACHINE. IT DOES EVERYTHING I NEED IT TO DO LOVE THE QUILTING PART OF IT, ACTUALLY ALL ASPECTS OF THIS SEWING MACHINE.
I upgraded from an older, basic Singer. Nothing wrong with it, but I sew a lot and wanted more features, without getting something crazy expensive. This machine is lovely, both to look at and to use. Not too complicated, either. Just perfect for me. I would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting a reasonably priced, easy to use, computerized sewing machine.
I really like the Janome MOD-100. It is computerized and does so many different things. It does one step buttonholes which makes it so easy for garments that require several buttonholes. It has a needle up-down button and remembers the needle position which is great for doing buttonholes there are so many different stitches and then there are different options with each stitch it. The controls are electronic and I can select from a variety of stitches and stitch lengths and stitch widths. I like the eyelet stitch as I plan to use that on belts. I like the decorative stitches, stitches 78 through 99. I plan to try the decorative stitches out on tops and shorts. . I really like the needle threader as that is not something I have had on my old mechanical sewing machine. Winding the bobbin is very simple with this machine. The instruction booklet that comes with the machine is easy to read and understand. It also comes with lots of pictures. This machine is lightweight and easy to move around. This machine also comes with a soft plastic cover that is great for when I am not sewing. I am between a beginner and intermediate sewing and this machine is easy to use.
I am in love with my Janome MOD-100 100-Stitch Computerized Sewing Machine. For someone who has never used a sewing machine, this was intimidating. I clung to that instruction booklet like a drowning man to a raft and we rode it out together. I had a lot of hiccups with skipped and crooked stitches but I persisted. I was learning to sew on a machine after all. Machine has a carrying handle. Not too heavy, about 10 to 12 pounds. Small LCD screen. Comes with a nylon bag to cover when not in use. Included Instruction booklet is great with detailed illustrations and a troubleshooting section. The instruction booklet is, I'll repeat, very detailed and easy to follow. It names all the parts using identification numbers on the illustrations in the booklet, and tells you what those parts do and how to use them. I got ideas on completing small projects and I accomplished them using my handy booklet. Again, there were some errors, but the learning process was relatively smooth. I played around with the machine itself removing the extension table and putting it back on. The extension table is removed to enable easy sewing or mending tubular garments like sleeves, pant legs etc. Inside the extension table is hollow so you can store accessories inside, such as bobbins, needles, etc. One of my biggest learning stress came from determining what level of needle thread tension was needed for the different materials that I was using. The machine has a dial on the top left that you use to move up and down to change tension. I constantly had to adjust this to avoid bumpy stitches and to get the stitch smooth and flat. I am still working on that. Keep in mind also that the needle size should be appropriate for the materials you are sewing. Fine fabrics, like organza works better with a #9/65-11/75 needle; medium weight fabrics, such as fleece works best with a #11/75-14/90 needle and heavy fabric like denim works best with a #14/90-16/100 needle. The included manual warns that you may experience skipped stitches unless you use blue tipped needles (not included). That may have been my issue. With the included manual I learned how to thread the needle in the machine and change needles (3 extra needles are included). This Janome MOD-100 100-stitch sewing machine is a great sewing machine for professionals and novices. I learned how to make cross stitches, forming designs in minutes that I would have spent hours on by hand. This machine allows you to program the length or width of your stitch using the LCD screen; figure out sizes of button holes by placing a button in the buttonhole holder. I cannot say enough about this machine. Thank you Walmart Sparkreviewer for allowing me to fall in love with this machine.
excellent machine - a dream to sew on.
I had a Janome that I purchased from a local sewing store, but it had the vertical bobbin and it kept jamming and needles would break. I finally got tired of it and did some research. This Janome MOD-100 is the perfect machine for a relatively casual sewer like me. Although it does have 100 stitches, I will probably never use more than 10 of them. I love the one-step buttonholes, the drop-in bobbin and the fact that I can easily lift it. It's very quiet too.
The price was great, the machine works well and has done most of the things that I wanted. Disappointed that the stitch length is not bigger for some projects. For the most part I do like this machine.
Love this machine!! So easy to use. A great selection of stitches. The button hole maker is so easy to use. Working on a quilt made from minky and fleece and it handles the thickness just fine. Highly recommend.
I have to admit I have been a bit intimidated by this "Janome New Home" sewing machine, I have never had a digital sewing machine before, and was not sure of how to work it. It's been 12+ yrs. since I have used a sewing machine, on a regular basis, and it was a plain single stitch, no frills machine, so you can imagine my hesitation, and I wanted to give a fair proper review, so here it goes. I have pondered over the Instruction Book 3 different times to make sure I understood the directions, some of it can be a little confusing for a first time user. After understanding a little more each time, I found most of it is pretty simple, but not everything. After many years of protecting the tension knob on my previous machine from little hands, this is a welcome change, instead of a big knob on the outside, it has a turn dial built inside the casing so it does not get bumped by accident or turned by small curious hands, after you have shut it down to fix dinner, that knob seemed to call their name quite often when I wasn't looking LOL. The machine is sturdy yet light weight maybe 10 lbs, it has a carry handle built on top for easy moving, a dust cover when it's not in use. It comes with a 17 pc. accessory kit including an automatic buttonhole foot. It also has a removable extension table for sleeves, you can store your accessories inside the table out of the way while not in use. Threading of the machine is easy, but the directions are not clear on how to use the automatic threader for the needle itself, so I thread it manually (this is the only reason of 4 stars). The bobbin was no problem to fill and place. The LED window let's you choose, and displays what stitch you are using. There are 99 different stitch designs, and the plastic stitch chart is displayed on the machine in front of you so you do not waste time looking thru the instruction book, but if for some reason you need another chart there is a large print one in the back of the book, also has a light to see your project better. Overall this is a nice sewing machine, I'm looking forward to many more outfits, only this time I am able to make designs if I choose.
This sewing machine is impressive especially with features like the auto needle threader. Believe me you'll appreciate this if you have vision impairment. But I was kind of expecting something more, from a machine labelled " computerized". Standard computerized touch control that will elimate the foot control will be appreciated in future models. The dust cover is a nice addition although a hard case cover should come standard for something so sophisticated. Otherwise this is a very multi-purpose user friendly sewing machine.
