Works well, and a great price.
works well and the price was great.
I have found these testing strips to be very useful. I was skeptical at first because of the price, but I figured it would be well worth it for my fish tank. The strips work very well. It's not so much of an estimation since the only real estimates are if your ammonia levels are really high, in which case, it does not matter. They give you quick results and are accurate as long as you do everything correctly. Great product!
I use these strips as a quick and handy way to check trends on the 5 items that I watch most. A quick read is all I need most of the time.
Great product, easy to use, got it for a low price. It came in a super gigantic box though. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Bottle was opened and empty
There are three pads, only one of which is the reactive pad that displays the ammonia levels, the other two pads must contain some kind of reactive substance, because in order for the one pad to change color to reflect ammonia levels, it has to be mixed around with the other two pads in a small vial of water. There in lies my problem, the two pads that you DONT read have come off every single test strip prior to the time to stop swirling around and subsequently read for a representation of ammonia levels in your tank. I'm concerned I'm not getting an accurate reading because the reactive pad on the strip doesn't change to any shades of the colors meant to indicate the level of the chemical you are testing for, in this case ammonia. It changes to a different color all together. It is for that reason I must give this item a very low score.
These strips Was not accurate or consistant you could test multiple stips at the same time and get different results Very disapointed. Just buy the API master test kit and save yourself the hassle.
These darken so they will go to harmful shade indicator for green after a few minutes no matter what they change from all three of the colors so you have no idea what's right and the pads fall off when testing. It came with dark green dye showing on the strip which is odd They give wildly inconsistent reads and it said harmful on a brand new never used bottle of spring water I tested as a control. The ideal yellow is dark yellow and irs impossible for the strip to get that shade it comes too light the light color it comes is the second yellow for safe and it's impossible for it to change to the ideal shade so it's made to convince you to buy their remover. It's junk. It's also got a harmful substance so don't dip it into the tank or let it touch you. It burnt my skin and the bottle says do not let it touch it and to wash well so it'll kill fish if u dip it right in this sucks you need to test for nitrite and nitrate too. Two seperate substances one is harmful one means the cycle is complete you can't safely just test for ammonia so just buy a master kit this does nothing for cycling a tank. These are garbage and a waste of precious time. My axolotl can't be in a uncycled tank and I have been doing the process and these messed me up.
This sucks! The pads fall off. Dont buy.
