Very tender and delicious meat. But rather pricey for such a small can. Wouldn't recommend getting for more than two (2) people to eat if you're like me, on a tight budget. The ground beef and shredded pork are larger and cheaper, just as delicious, and well worth the money for quick and easy meal preps.

All Keystone canned meats have minimal ingredients and it makes a difference in taste. The beef is a bit shredded and can be used in many ways. Served with brown gravy over noodles or rice, make enchiladas or burritos, home made beef pot pie, or simmer/roast with carrots and potatoes for a great tasting stew. Make au jus heros (McCormick makes sauce packets), Philly cheese steak, or make SOS open faced sandwiches. Excellent emergency preparedness food, or for days when you don't feel like complicated cooking because you can eat it right out of the can or just heat with a side of veggies. Tastes like pot roast straight from the can.

it's delicious!

DRBRegulaCustomer December 26, 2025

the can is packed with chunks of tender roast beef a little juice from the cooking process, snd a few bits of beef fat that you can pick out or eat. i was delighted to find it neither smelled nor tastedike dog food, as did canned beef in the past. it's uses are unlimited, from right out 9f the can, to adding it to.soups, stews, over rice, in tacos, or in chili. it's going to be a regular purchase fir me from now on. and the price is reasonable. a pound of beef costs.morr and you would lose volume in cooking it. so far, its tender and hss no gristle. i recommend it

Best meat in any can!!!

Sanaya August 12, 2025

I can't believe how GOOD THIS BRAND OF ALL CAN MEAT IS!!!! I've tried them all!!! I've eaten it in many dishes. All you do is warm it up for a quick meal. Or use it in any of your favorite dishes. The only difference is it takes less time. And the broth is as rich as if you cooked it yourself. The only ingredients are MEAT AND SEA SALT!! Has a long shelf life too.

Many of the cans lids bulge. If you push on the ends of the cans you get a pop or a click. I contacted Keystone office. Got a reply back that was “normal”. Researched and apparently it does happen. Makes me uncomfortable. This is the message they gave me. Subject:“Clicking” Cans The purpose of this letter is to explain the air bubble that you have noticed in some of your canned meat products. Evidence of the air bubble is when the can end pops back and forth due to an air bubble trapped inside the can. This does not indicate a problem with product integrity or product spoilage. Most incidents happen with 14.5 oz beef, pork, or ground beef (every once in a while, the 28 oz) for the following reason. The meat is raw when packed in the cans so it is cold, stiff, and somewhat sticky. Air gets entrapped in the meat when it is packed into the can. No water or any other lubricant is added to the product to remove the air or fill void spaces in the meat so air never escapes and is sealed in the can with the meat. Thus, the can may have an air bubble trapped inside. Heat and altitude are also factors which can cause the air inside the can expand. The product is commercially sterile, and safe for consumption within the normally specified shelf life. Thank you for your business. Sincerely, Keystone Meats Canned Meat Manufacturer

It's beef and salt in a can.

anonymous June 29, 2026

I've been wanting to try this for awhile and finally went for it recently when I was hankering for a hot roast beef sandwich. Meh. It's beef. And salt. In a can. Think of the beef in canned stew. Of course it's not the best cut of beef, and it's a bit on the salty side. It was okay for the HRB sandwich but would probably be better in a recipe where it wasn't the focus. I'll probably try it as an addition to chilli.

Curiosity satisfied

anonymous July 2, 2026

This is cooked ground beef. I thought it was going to be chipped beef like in cheesesteaks. It smells good, has a good flavor and is something nice to keep on the pantry shelf for convenience. Fat pleasantly coagulates in one spot and it's easily removed. It is moist, not wet.

Bad shipping and bag packaging.

Thomas July 2, 2024

As i have said before. If you keep using fed x to deliver my food i will shop elsewhere. I had all of these cans .over 6 pounds of food in a box on top of 4 bags of cheese puffs. there was also 2 12 packs of armor Vienna sausages on top of the 4 bags of cheese puffs and kelloggs pastry crisp. 2 bags of cheese puffs busted open and pastry crisp crushed. Folded over brown paper is not enough to protect these kinds of food packaging's with 10 pounds total of can products on top of them. please use bubble wrap to protect my food and stop the useless wasting of my food and/or my MONEY !!!! i will not eat open bags regardless due the food tampering we have seen since the 1980's. i will send it back and you eat it.

It would be good if it had less salt. It's way too salty. But I'm going to try it again and drain all the juice off of it, and put it in a strainer and rinse it underwater to see if that will help. And maybe just try to make like a barbecue beef out of it or make some gravy and put over it.
