This particular product has saved me from CO poisoning at least 3 times in the last 20 years. Incident 1 - faulty bathroom gas heater - >999 ppm, saved my life in 2005 Incident 2 - faulty water heater - 170ppm, saved me from health problems - 2010 Incident 3 - faulty oven - 120ppm, saved me from chronic exposure - 2015 I ALWAYS have this unit, in new condition, (<5 years old to err on the side of caution) operating continuously, considering I am a natural gas powered house. I declare this to be a NECESSITY if you use gas as a primary cooking/heating source. Please give this a thumbs up if you found it helpful!
Bought this to replace the exact same CO detector which lasted 7 years as promised. We use it in hallway to bedrooms for peace of mind. Display clearly states when battery is low or end of life, so that you don't have to do any guesswork (there are 2 smoke detectors too in the hallway, so it can get confusing with low battery beeps)
This is the 2nd one of these I've had. Very convenient to be able to plug into an outlet. When backup battery is low & it beeps, it sounds exactly like the smoke detector. When/if you hear the low battery beep every 30 seconds, check the CO detector first since that is a lot easier than getting on a ladder to replace smoke detector battery & find it didn't help. I haven't had a CO problem so it hasn't ever alarmed.
This product was recommended by a gas employee doing a home energy inspection. Simple, buy it, put battery backup in & plug into any electrical outlet - done. Best part, shows that even with our 19 yr old furnace, we are carbon monoxide free. completely satisfied, time will tell if units are truly a good value.
After having a new air conditioner installed in my house, I thought it would be a good idea to check the age of my old carbon monoxide detector. It was over 14 years old! The Kidde NightHawk got good reviews so I ordered it online and picked it up at my local store. It exceeded my expectations. Battery backup, plugs directly into the wall and also has a wire extender to plug it into the wall but mount the unit away from the outlet. Very simple operation and gives good piece of mind.
I had a bit of a time getting the back off to insert the batteries, but once I read the directions fully, I saw my mistake, and then I was able to insert and attach them just fine. The box includes VERY specific instructions as to where to hang this AC/DC powered unit. Good information if you have never had one before. It is very LOUD, it will wake everyone up if there is ever a problem!! A wise investment for any home.
This replaces my 7 year old monitor of the same model. I a bought a second one to replace my First Alert. This is an easy 'plug in' with a battery back up...battery furnished. I like this one especially for the digital readout that is continually showing the CO level, normally at zero and it's working .... the blinking dot.
This alarm is easy to install, has battery back-up in case of power outages, and, if the battery itself expires, a new batterty is easy to install. A small price to pay for peace of mind. I have three of this particular model, one on each level of my home. This purchase replaced an older one.
Good CO alarm. Works well and has a loud alarm. Be sure to have a replacement battery available. When the low battery alarm goes off you will want to change it out ASAP! Uses about 1 battery per year. Unit life is about 5-6 years, then will have to replace with a new unit. On my 2nd one
per my previous comment, first item was damaged, but could not see that through the package and it was not noticed by the individual who handed it to me in the pick up area. That made us drive all the way back to Walmart to return the package, and walk the store to pick up a new one. it happens, nothing major. Glad there was another one to purchase that day overall, all good. We will be back.
