My older cat, who is no longer grooming herself, was developing matts and wouldn't let me comb her with her comb anymore because it hurt. I ordered the Knot Genie and she is tolerating that much better, so much so that we are successfully getting rid of the matts a little more each day. Prior to this, we were losing the battle, not gaining on it. I'm very happy with this product. It is much less painful to use as it claims.

This brush is awesome! My granddaughter has long thick hair, and is very tender headed, which makes brushing her hair a huge chore. The knot genie glides through her hair without a worry, and calms every tangle. WithOUT the screaming and crying. And it's easy enough for her to use by herself.

My daughter has long, troublesome hair. It takes forever to brush through it once it starts tangling, which it will anytime she wears a scarf or falls asleep without having it in a braid first, or just on a windy day. It hurts her to get her hair brushed and every night is a tearful disaster. I tried this brush and it worked like a charm! It's not instant, I mean, you do still have to go over trouble spots and so on. And my daughter's hair is thin so I don't know how it would react to thick hair. But it worked so well, and so smoothly, my daughter was ecstatic. It took probably only a quarter of the usual time we have to spend on her hair, and without pulling or tugging her scalp! Once the knots and snarls were out, she told me she wanted me to keep brushing her hair because it felt so good to have her hair brushed. She has never in her life enjoyed having her hair brushed, no matter how well I thought I'd smoothed it, so this brush is a marvel. I swear her hair looked shinier, too, but that might just have been my joy. Other reviewers have noted that this doesn't have a handle. I didn't have any trouble at all using it. To me it felt like smoothing her hair with my hand. It's small enough to fit easily in your hand so it's not like you can' t use it without a handle. Also, if it's for a little girl, the bright shiny pink color totally makes up for it! She managed to lose it within a week, and I just re-ordered it. It might turn up, I don't care about the wasted money, I'd like to have two of them around.

Can't say its "painless" if you or your child have fine curly easily knotted hair. You still have to work gently to get the knots out. I also still use detangling spray along with brush. However, it IS better than just any regular brush that you get at the store for detangling, so I would recommend it to a friend.

Thanks to this comb, my daughter is absolutely happy and no complains about brushing her hair...... Thank god, finally we have a solution.

Seriously needs a handle otherwise works much better than a regular hairbrush. However it is not completely tear/tangle free.

I bought this for my 4yr old. She has really long hair, which has only been trimmed once. The ends are really fine and tangle eaaily. I bought this brush in hopes it would ease the fight to brush her hair. When using this, it was not as easy as described. It did not go through tangles easy and actually, seemed to "rip" through her hair. It was still difficult, it still had lots of "ouches". But, it didoesn't decrease the amount of brushing time, which is why I rated it a 3 instead of a 1.

I ordered two of these to replace my last two knot genies and was thrilled to see there was a handle added to the brush! But the two brushes we received did not have handles at all. The bristles don't seem to be as long as the ones on our previous brushes either, so they are less effective than our last set of knot genies.

The brush could not get through my daughter's hair. The bristles are very short. A complete waste of money. Do not buy!
