Overall this is good value but the sand is not as smooth as I would've liked. We used it for a sandbox for our 5 year old and she loves to play in it but it's quite coarse sand, not smooth like we've had before from other brands. I'd still reccomend it for non picky people but if you prefer a smoother, more refined sand then this is not the one for you.
The sand was nit smooth play sand for a toddler sandbox. Very disappointed because I have purchased plenty of play sand over the years and this reminded me of sand that is used at the end of a driveway. Not something a small soft skinned toddler would enjoy sitting on and playing with. However, the price was nearly affordable but quality wasnt what I expected.
The sand may be washed and clean, but it is full of rocks that a child can throw or even choke on. Do not but this if you are using it for a sand box or under a swimming pool unless you want to go through the time and trouble to sift it. I would definitely NOT call this stuff Play Sand!
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BUY THIS SAND FOR YOUR CHILDS SANDBOX!!!!! DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT! This sand smells of paint thinner or bleach. Stinging my nose every time I walk past it. It came out of the bag SOAKED and has been sat out for 24 hours, STILL STINKS. STILL SOAKED. On top of that has a MASSIVE Prop 65 warning on the front. Prolonged or continued use causes organ damage to lungs and can cause cancer. I BELIEVE IT BY THE SMELL ABSOLUTELY INSANE THIS IS BEING RECOMMENDED FOR SANDBOXES DO NOT BUY!!!!!!
Marketed as ideal for sandboxes! But they fail to highlight the warning this product is known to cause lung cancer!!! Kids are pouring, tossing, eating it (whenever you aren't close enough to stop it!). All of these things are going to increase the risks and make it airborne. No closeup of the warning to know when buying online. Also didn't realize the sand would be sooo wet. So is the weight amount on the package wet or dry? That matters if you are filling a patio umbrella base with sand. Very unimpressed Walmart would sell a product clearly not intended for the safety of children/humans/animals.
This package states “Ideal for sandboxes” which it is not. Half of it is small rocks and the sand it does contain is very coarse. Did not feel this was acceptable for a 15 month old. I threw the sand out and started over by purchasing sand at Lowe's that was a much better quality product (finer, cleaner, and whiter)for the same price as Walmart.
Terrible! It's mostly rocks! My kids were pretty upset about the rocks because it feels terrible (not like sand). I ended up having to sift the sand but it feels dirty and gross. I'm pretty disappointed. But I guess the price makes sense since there is no sand pretty much in it. I will be throwing away what I have a replacing with good proper sand. Hate it!
Horrible sand. I did not purchase for a sandbox thankfully but purchased because it said it was for a sandbox so assumed it was clean safe sand. For one it arrived soaken wet on the inside of the bag so all sand clump together couldnt just pout it out. Smelled horrible, such a stong take your breath away smell. Large %26 small crushed/broken pieces of plastic and other things inside which would be extremely dangerous if you just dumped a bunch of bags in for a sandbox and kids played in it.
Even though it says on the bag, great for sand boxes, this is the absolute worst sand to buy for a children's sandbox. It says it contains wash sand, but there are also pebbles, clay and other debris. Unlike other brands of play sand I've used it has a terrible smell. It is not extremely fine as is advertised on the bag. It is very course and when dry it clumps up forming almost rock or concrete like texture. Terrible play sand and will never buy again.
The smell of ammonia was overpowering as soon as I opened the bag. It was so strong I was mot comfortable using it for my project and can't imagine it being safe “play sand” for kids.
