We have only used it once so far but it does work and keeps the food cold. We got this so when we travel, we don't have to look for ice every night because my husband uses medicine that has to be kept cold. We had recently traveled and some of the hotels didn't have a freezer to refreeze my ice packs and had to use the ice from the hotel. It was a worry that the medicine was kept cold enough. With this cooler we won't have to worry about that. We can put the medicine in the fridge every night and back in the cooler in the morning.
I owned another brand and it lasted a couple of years but the handle design encouraged weakness and breakage so I bought the Kooltron Cooler because it has a sturdier handle and it appears to have a sturdier body. This one also came with a divider that helps keep the liquid items standing straight even when you take out the other items stored. So far, it is working great and seems very sturdy. I hope the motor on the fan lasts as long as the other one and longer!!!
Bought this for my grandfather, he's a truck driver. He had the old model and that one lasted 10 years. Hopefully, this one will last 10 more.
Works best when you cool it down for about 4 hours before using. I add 3 or 4 frozen blue packs to help get the temp down. Keeps everything nice & cold as long as it is powered up.
Only used it a couple of times but seems ok? I would recommend either plugging it into your vehicle cigarette lighter an hour before loading it to have it already cooled OR buy the AC plug adaptor to get it chilled in your home electrical outlet first ;-)
This is a fairly good sized unit. Neither too big or too small. I've had it for a week now and it performed flawlessly. Some condensation (water) happens on the inside but all is ok. The only drawback is the one handed operation. They lid is a bit heavier as that is where the cool magic happens. So to slide your hand in to just grab a snack takes some getting used to.
I've only used it for beverages so far. It cooled them from a state of room temperature to cool in a matter of about 8 hours. When we go camping, we'll cool our items before we place them in the cooler and also plug it in ahead of time to prepare. I am satisfied with the cooler for what we require it for.
I bought this last year and it lasted about 4 days. Very inefficient mechanism, I had to use a 100 W solar panel all sunny day just to keep it running during the day and partially during the night. Considering how small the volume is this was unexpected. At the end it just stopped working, very disappointed for a product made in Canada. I gave up on this 12 V cooler technology and decided to by a proper mini fridge with a compressor, it's about the same size as a cooler but it works flawlessly.
The fan on this cooler is very loud it makes inconsistent and weird chugging noises, it is literally impossible for me to sleep or relax in my campervan with it turned on. It doesn't stay or get very cold, I have to put ice packs inside even if I have it running for a few hours before I put my food in. After running it all day if I shut it off for just a few hours at night because I can't sleep my food will go bad even with the ice packs inside.
It worked one time only and I am having a hard time returning it as I don't have a proof of purchase from Walmart on line.
