I have been using Le Pen since grade school in the 80s- yikes! I was so stoked to see all the colors they offer but this pack had too many light shades that are hard to see. And since they are primarily used for journaling it's not ideal. For doodling it would probably be ok.

I'm kind of a snob when it comes to office supplies and writing utensils and once I find something I like I tend to stick to it, but I saw these while picking up some school supplies at Walmart about a year ago and decided to get them mostly just cause I thought the colors were pretty and immediately fell in love. The ink flow is super consistent, I don't have any issue writing on the glossier paper of my textbooks like I do with a lot of pens, and the ink dries fairly quick and rarely smudges, and on top of all that the colors are gorgeous. I've used these almost exclusively for note taking and annotating and underlining in my textbooks for two full college semesters and two short-term summer/winter semesters and they're still going strong. My hand writing gets muddled very easily, so I really like how thin the tip of these are. My only complaint is that since the body of the pens are so thin, they can be difficult to get a good grip on at times and will make your hand cramp rather quickly if you are doing a lot of writing at once.

Half of them were leaking within a week or two.
