This is the 2nd clock I ordered, as the first one had a defect and the hands would not move. But this 2nd one works fine and is helping grand daughter understand time. I like the fact that the clock has 1 - 12, but also 5 minutes thru 59 minutes. She can move the round knob on back and set clock to any time desired.

This clock is LARGE, just as I hoped it would really be. The hands move by, manually moving the blue minute hand. You cannot move the red hour hand. The blue minute hand controls the movement, and the clock rotates clockwise as a real one would. I have no problem with that, because it removes confusion when teaching students how to tell time, clockwise rotation etc. For me, the hand isn't difficult to move. Now, if you try to move the hand using the gear on the back, then you WILL have problems. However, I don't believe you are supposed to use the round gear on the back, because the blue second hand has a small knob on it that is there for you to use to gently move the hand to the time to need it to be on. I like that the clock has the minutes printed in blue ( the blue color matches the blue minute hand). Again, this limits confusion in young children learning to tell time. As for the value of the price paid, I had to rate it as average. The description says it's made of durable plastic. The plastic is not flimsy, but it's not solid either. In other words, my first reaction when I pulled this out of the box it came in, was "why did I have to pay eighteen dollars for this thing". I think it's over priced for what it is. But, if you really need something like this to help teach little ones, then this is your product. I would buy it again, if I needed to do so.

I bought this for my 5 year old grandson so that he can learn how to tell time this year while being home-schooled. He is enjoying being able to move the minute hand and watching the hour hand move a little at the same time. It seems to be good quality for the price.

Nice clock but am disappointed that you can 't manually move the hands. Depending on your needs, I guess this can work.
