it's a cute little toy register for kids. actually I'm using it for a yard sale upcoming myself and then I'm going to give it to my grandchild. because it does work like a real cash register. But kids would enjoy this. I just wish it was a little better made as far as the plastic. looks like it could break very easy. so be gentle I'm sure would be my best advice. other from that it's very nice. Even the coins and paper money look kind of realistic.
I, especially, like this item because I can use it in ALL my child's addition and subtraction problems. This item is good for children that need the, “hands on” experience therefore, supporting the mother/father/teacher's return demonstration aspect of their teaching techniques. This is a good support product for ALL learning/teaching techniques.
My 4yo doesn't have any complaints, but I noticed it does not have any kind of scanner to pretend to scan barcodes. You just have to type like a calculator. But my kid doesn't mind, he loves playing store with it It's a bit expensive for what it is, but it was worth it. It does come with play bills and coins but for some reason it only has 3 compartments for bills but they give you 1s, 5s, 10s AND 20s so you have to leave one of those categories of bills out because there's not enough spaces for all b
kids from every walk of life recognize and relate to this gift. And they all seem to love doing what Mama does at the grocery store. Just like when we were kids with the shopping cart. But now they get to use there little credit card swiper. so cute !!
I got this for my youngest Grand Daughter. It came straight out of the box, with no set up required. All I did was take the protective tape off. Opened and deposited the play coins and currency, and opened the package to get the Credit Card. It has a pre-installed battery for the beeping sound, but the calculator is run by solar power. She was thrilled. She played with it all day!! It actually works and even shows when she made a mistake. I think every can in the pantry was used when she played supermarket. Everybody in the family became shoppers. It was entertaining and very educational for her. I spent all afternoon teaching her how to make change. It required no tools, Was already pre-assembled, and is very colorful and life-like. I give this 5 stars as you don't get many toys today that can be played right out of the box!!
The outside of the package shows cute kids playing with the cash register and having fun. I like that it tells me that it runs by solar power. No batteries, awesome! I was worried that since it was solar powered it needed a bright light to work. Turns out it works in dim light so they can play with it anywhere. The cash drawer holds life sized money rather than small coins and dollars which tend to get lost easier. Can teach the value of money as they look like actual money. I like that the bell rings when the drawer is open. A nice touch is it comes with a pretend credit card and the cash register has a place to swipe it. If a parent is smart they will start explaining the dangers you can get into if you charge more than what you can afford to pay off each month and if you carry a balance you will be paying interest. Never to early to teach good saving habits. The display is large and easy to read numbers. The buttons are sturdy enough for lots of rough pressing on the buttons. The instructions were really very good. It gives suggestions on how to use the register with the child for learning play. Can use as a calculator too. I really like the product. The set up of a pretend grocery store was fun but also doing as a retail shoe store was fun with the kids.
This is a gift for my 3 year old granddaughter, will be giving it to her soon. I did take it out of the box and look at it. The plastic seems kind of cheap. I'm hoping it holds up. I do like the fact that it's also a calculator. The drawer also opens out very far, which is nice. I had also bought the Minnie Mouse cash register and the drawer on that hardly comes out, but my granddaughter loves that one, so I bought her this bigger one.
The design of this cash register is good and I am sure it will last a long time as it seems very durable. The display is large and easy to read. The play money, which was one of my primary concerns, is realistically sized and marked. There is plenty of it to play with and make change too. The credit card is a nice touch which slides into a slot with a beep. This is the age where role play and using their imagination is very important. Everything about the design is great. I love that it is solar powered and doesn't require batteries. I feel like this is a good purchase and I would recommend it as a sturdy play set with high educational potential. The little pad of paper that comes with is pretty useless for little ones but I can see it being a fun part of the routine for older kids, especially when you tie it into the real grocery store receipt you receive. I think this cash register will remain a favorite as my grand-kids grow. Lots of learning possibilities with this toy.
I just got the Pretend & Play calculator cash register by Learning Resources. I have found that it is easy to use and fun for kids to learn math. This cash register is an actual calculator that adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides. It has the added bonus of paper money (ones, fives, tens, and twenties) and plastic coins (pennies, nickles, dimes, and quarters). It also has a pretend credit card that actually has the phone number for learning resources on it so if you ever have a problem, there is the phone number for calling the company. The drawer opens with a push of the button and the calculator itself requires no batteries as it is solar powered. The buttons are large so you don't have to worry about pressing a wrong button. The booklet that comes with the cash register has little activities that can be played with your child or a group of kids. It gives them scenarios that they can work out and use to learn different mathematical problems. There is also a small note pad that can sit on the cash register for your child to write small notes. The only thing I found that could be improved would be for enough slots for all paper money. There are only three slots available to separate your paper money. I like that you can store all your items inside the drawer. Over all this is a nice product and I would recommend it for any parent to help teach their children or for teachers to use in their classrooms to give their students fun learning activities. Use the booklet or create your own activity. **I would suggest sitting it in the sun for a few hours to let it charge up before use as it has been sitting in the box at the store or warehouse, so the battery will probably be weak.
When I opened the box, the calculator/cash register had half the side ripped off box, have no idea was not in delivery box, so therefore had to be done with your company, have no idea if everything is there, will have my son check it next time he comes over, it is for my grandson, why would you send something with the side of box ripped open
