Leatherman, Ratchet Driver

I got it on sale and it's an excellent addition to Leatherman tools that allows you to add 1/4 inch bits and ratcheting to your arsenal

I love my Leatherman, and this nifty little piece is a perfect addition to my EDC stuff. I ordered it within an hour of getting the first promotional email about it, and I am enamored. Since I got it, I have been using it all the time. It just makes all those little jobs that I carry my Wave for in the first place SO much easier. I highly recommend this tool!

I have no complaints as of yet. I've already implemented the driver on my job and in repairing/adjusting my bicycle. A super important aspect of this tool is its shape. I lost my previous driver when it slipped from the elastic band on my Signal's sheath. I have no fear that this driver will fall out.

This is a must have for any Leatherman user; I have used this with my Wave and Skeletool, both of which have exquisite weighting and feel when using it. I was originally concerned with torquing the ratchet drive too hard when in any of the three positions but am happy to say it can take as much abuse as my full ratchet set (within reason). Another great thing about it is I actually have something to put in my Wave's belt sheath!

Wow! I submitted this idea to Leatherman 15 years ago an they finally decided to produce it. The extension is pretty much what you would expect from a ratchet; CW, CCW, and lock in the middle. Maybe it's just mine, but the plastic selector is difficult to turn. I've used it now a few times and it's handy.

I have my beloved Skeletool and this was a long awaited upgrade to the original bit extension. The ratchet lessens the need to go find my drill driver for tiny jobs. It is possible to put in a socket bit and fasten or loosen nuts, but only up to a point. The housing isn't robust enough to stand up to the amount of torque it takes to loosen a rusted on bolt or crank down a stubborn one. But for fast, wrist-savings repetitive twisting, this is a welcomed upgrade. Because it no longer uses a wire bit retainage system and uses a magnetic one instead, some very shorter bits may not be held tightly in place, i.e. a short 1/4" socket adaptor. It does holds the normal sized ones in place fine. Bottom line: An excellent buy. Totally increases the usability of your Leatherman. It won't replace a drill driver or socket wrench, but it was never meant to do so, just as a multi-tool really won't replace a set of full tools. It does, however, greatly reduce the need to fetch and lug along said tools for quick fixes, especially when paired with a small EDC case with some other small odds and ends. Best accessory you can buy for your Skeletool, certainly.

I have not had a chance to use the tool under adverse conditions. But I have used it to change out some curtains and it worked fine. The torture test I've seen on YouTube seem to show that the weakest point is where the ratchet connects to the tool itself. But it broke after about 25 foot pounds of torque. I think it will be just fine.
