Leatherman really wanted me to leave a review for this thing, so here it is! Firstly, it's a solid piece of metal with one tiny ring inside it, so this is two parts. They did a fantastic job on putting these two things together to make one thing, a straight piece of metal with a hole in the end. The design team killed it with this one. I mean, take a piece of metal, shape in a tube shape, put a hold in one end for bits, and make the other end fit into something else. It's genius! It fits in my leatherman multitool like it's supposed to and functions great in it! It weighs about what you'd expect from something metal this size. It's about as long as it looks online. It even tastes like real metal! But I don't see where I can give a star rating on flavor, so I'll leave that blank. Buy this!

When I first received the bit extender (ordered based on glowing reviews from a friend) I quickly tried it out and my bit was stuck in the extender. I needed a vice and vice grips to remove it. I contacted customer support and Haley walked me through some troubleshooting, such as adding some lubrication. When this didn't work she looked up my order, in addition to sending me a new bit extender she personally tested it prior to shipping! the missing star is due to the issue with the first extender. The replacement extender arrived and is everything I hoped it would be.

Simply put, it works. It works well for what it is, and the Customers Service ladies have been very nice when I've called. It just seems that over $20, once you add shipping, is a bit(no pun intended) pricey for this piece. It works, but not that well.

The bit driver does what it's suppose to do...but I feel that being it proprietary, it's far to expensive. Especially when combined with the need to upgrade the sheath. I think the basic sheath should come with the pockets for tools. That should be enough to encourage accessory sales. Also, I ordered what I thought would be basically the same sheath that came with the Wave except with pockets, but it turns out to be so big that it's a better fit for my Surge. My Wave with the accessories just flops around in the sheath and is very annoying.

Seller sent a simple alien tool insted of the bit driver extender. This may be some kind of joke.

I recently ordered a Surge and but extender. (No. 549223). I opened my order yesterday and tried our the extender. I put the surge bit into the extender and the but locked in place and cannot be removed. Both bit and extender are now mostly ruined! I regret my purchase.
