The original reason I bought these jeans was for the flat zippered side pocket for carrying my phone. It's right there when I want it, on the side, easy to take out, sitting or standing. And it's not gouging a groove in my gluts, esp. when I'm driving. The pocket doesn't stick out like the usual sewn-on cargo pocket. Perfect. Thereafter, a year and several pairs later, I found the quality of workmanship, fit and durability to be excellent. One suggestion: make the ‘phone' pocket deeper to allow the zipper to work for the larger phones.
My husband absolutely loves these pants and swears they are the only kind he will ever wear. He especially likes the side “cargo” pockets without the usual flaps which can sometimes get caught on things. Other positives he mentioned: pockets are the perfect size; waistband that stretches with him. We have purchased several pairs.
These are the ONLY pants my son will wear for work. He is a site supervisor who needs to look the role but also be able to do his work inside & outside. I.E, his pants need to be professional while at the same time stand up to the environment of construction projects. The stretch makes them very comfortable, and he likes the cell phone pocket on the one leg that zips closed. He has all 3 color options.
The fit was great! true to size. I love these because they have two side pockets, and one that zippers, and I prefer the more subtle zipper side cargo pockets over traditional "cargo pants" pockets. The material is durable, but still soft and flexible. I only wish that Lee had these pants in the darker khaki color, or the "Nomad" color. When I tried to select that color to order a pair in that color, the site said that the "Nomad" color was out of stock.
I carry my wallet in one side pocket and cell phone in the other, so I like cargo pants. I especially like these because instead of the flaps they have more discreet pockets. The one on the right side has a zipper, the one on the left does not. I would prefer that both sides had a zipper. I'd also prefer if the front pockets were just a bit deepeer, and the side ones as well because my cell phone comes right to the top. However these are the closest I can find to what I consider ideal. They are well made, seem tough enough an the fabric is a good weight, not too light as some are.
They are comfortable (stretchy waistband). The main reason I bought them, though, are the two extra pockets on the sides of the legs, one open, one zipped. These are not baggy cargo pockets. . Perfect for carrying a phone. I don't know why all pants aren't made this way. I bought two pair several years ago, and as they have started wearing out I just bought two more. Great for travel. The only minus is that the zipper feels a bit cheap, they don't slide smoothly.
These are really nice quality pants and look nice on too! However, they are for right handed people as the cellphone zipper pocket is on the right side. My husband is left handed and always puts his cellphone in his left pocket, so this is backwards for him. Also, he has a larger cellphone so the pocket isn't quite deep enough; however, I used to be a seamstress so I was able to resew the bottom of the pocket to make it longer.
I now have half a dozen pairs of these. They're a perfect fit. I'd prefer 100% cotton, but these have much less stretchy stuff than most and feel almost like all cotton, so I'm happy with that. My only small criticism is that the left side pocket could be a half inch deeper so a cell phone would fit better, and it would be better if it had a zipper like the right. I keep my wallet zipped on the right, cell phone in the left pocket. Overall, though, these are the best pants I've had with side cargo pockets and I really like that they don't look like cargo pockets. Not baggy at all.
Because of the nap of the fabric they pick up lint easily. The zipper pocket is only big enough for a small phone. If you have a larger phone then hopefully there is enough extra fabric in the pocket lining to resew the bottom of the pocket and take out the factory stitching. Even then there is barely enough room for the larger phone.
I have four pairs of these pants that I wear for hospital volunteer work and I love them however the last pair I ordered have a 1.5" rip on the back pocket. I couldn't return them because the tags were removed.
