Super set which has the right level of challenge for my son at the same time as making it manageable to build. 7 years seems to be the ideal age for this set mainly due to some knot tieing and a few technic building bits. Otherwise the build is at the right level and the instructions are perfect. Under 7s will also be able to do it but with some parental help. The functions are great, with sliding stabilisers and a working crane. The boom slides out by hand while the lifting and winching mechanism is by turn wheel. The little piston for raising the jib is great. Overall a very satisfying build and great for playability. Highly recommended.
This was bought for a 6 year old boy who enjoys building Lego very much. It wasn't a disappointment in any way. It is well designed & has great functions to it. It is like a combination of Lego & their Technic line. I hope there are more designed like this. The Technic sets aren't esthetic, but interesting in their function, just not quite as fun for him to build. This set combined both. Well done Lego! Hope there are more to come.
My 6 yr old son took an hour and a half to build the whole set with me helping him to tie up the string only, then he kept playing with the crane for hours. A good hands-on with the techni parts. And he was amazed by the mechanical design with the techni bricks also!
I ordered it and it arrived before I needed it. Accurate delivery date
I bought this for my nephew and he was ecstatic. Such a fun build. He was turning 6 and he had no problem building this set.
This set is really good. The crane can support a fair amount and the way it works with the supports is a cool way to learn about how forces interact with each other. I really love this set and I can definitely see myself using this set in so many ways
This was a huge hit with my four year old son, who is into Lego technic. He plays with it all the time, and it was super fun to build together.
My son says: “It is amazing, it's great because it can all move. I like using it for lots of different things. I wish it had a road that could be lifted and the crane could put it in a dumper, and some road work signs.”
This set grabbed my eye on a visit to my local Lego shop. I love stuff with functional features and particularly, sets that mix in a bit of Technic. The look of this is is your standard six-wheeled construction crane (and reminds me of the Transformer Hook), but rather than the yellow we usually get, this one is a nice mix of blue and orangish-yellow. It's really nice and makes this feel a bit more real-world. The vehicle has four outriggers, which are simply deployed by pulling them out. It's fairly basic, but I like the technique involved. They don't really do the job they're supposed to (stop the vehicle moving and aid balance), but the nod to realism is appreciated. The crane itself is operated by a couple of gears to raise the boom and lower the jib, but you do have to use your hands to extend the boom, which involves a bit of fiddling. It's not bad though and what I'd expect in a CiTY set. The operation of the features is nice and smooth and the crane rotates nicely too! Whilst it's nice it comes with a thing to lift, I kind of wish this either a full container or something to add a little more play value, but it does the job. Two cheery minifigures round out the package - nice to see female and male construction workers - which is welcome. Building the set was fun and straight forward - well, apart from threading the string, which I'm still rubbish at - although Lego still insist on clashing colours for the 'insides' as an aide to less experienced builders, here at least they're fairly complimentary - there's no greens and pinks peaking out at you, for instance - and well hidden. There's a nice mix of bricks here too, so plenty of scope to build other things out of the parts (Showing my age, but I do miss the suggestions of alternative builds Lego used to put on the back of the boxes). For the price and what you get, the set offers good value. It's not the most flashy and enticing thing in the CiTY range, but it offers a heck of a lot of play value so it's a strong recommend from me!
We received a box that had three random ziplock bags and an instruction manual to build a lion. The item was clearly tampered with and sent to us. We are very disappointed with this seller.
