The scaled down Batmobile from Batman (1989) against the Batman Returns car (1992). Any concerns this would be the same vehicle released on its own away from the impressive Batman Returns Shadowbox Batcave are quashed with this release. It felt like a very different build and the finished product has plenty of differences. It still has the gun turrets and the rotating flame but the design has some alternatives externally and internally. If you can stump up the cash for the Batcave then it's still worth getting the solo vehicle - comes with Batman and Joker. If you can't afford/or justify the price of the Shadowbox, the Batmobile - and companion Batwing - is the way to go.

This is a great set. Easy to build and the detail is excellent. The play feature of the flames working with the rear wheels reminds me of the old Dinky Toys from the 1970s! The extending guns, as in the movie, are a real plus. Batman even fits in the cockpit. Goes nicely with my 1966 Lego Batmobile! A tad pricey but worth it!
Gift for my teen age daughter who loves comics! She was excited to build this! Legos are always a hit!
excellent delivery - on time!!
box was damaged - two tears to the exterior and a crushed corner. And it didnt happen in shipping bc there was no damage to the shipping package. this is how Walmart sent it to its customer. if this were an item i was buying as a collector I would reject it. but its a gift and will be used so idc. i know there are DC and Lego collectors out there where package condition matters so beware if youre buying to collect.
Let me start by saying I'm a huge fan of the 1989 (and 1992) Batman films. They're awesome and it's fantastic that 30 years later Michael Keaton is back playing Batman in the Flash film. Anyway, as a huge Lego fan I've been waiting for the day the '89 Batmobile would be released in Minifigure scale. As soon as I heard it was going to be released, I eagerly awaited the opportunity to pre-order and I did so as soon as I was able. The Batmobile was delivered and I set to work building it, I'd say it took me a couple of hours to build, sat down in front of the TV with no urgency, just taking my time. I assumed it would be loaded with just black pieces but I was pleasantly surprised other random colours were used in the building of the chassis and floor pan. In all honesty I think the pieces that were used to build up the axle sections were very random, compared to other vehicles I've made, and I would probably say it was overly elaborate and probably not really necessary to have it made up the way it was, in my opinion- a more standard axle piece would have probably sufficed . This brings me on to my main gripe with this car. The proportions are slightly off. This is in no small part due to the car only bring wide enough to fit Batman, and only him, in the cockpit. The car in the film has two front seats- he takes Vicki Vale to the Batcave, remember. Because this Lego Batmobile is designed to fit one Minifigure it actually looks much narrower than it should be. So it fails on both accounts. When Speed Champions switched from 6 to 8 studs wide it made such a positive difference to the proportions and aesthetic to the vehicles. Why didn't they do the same with the Batmobile. It makes absolutely no sense. Very frustrating. Even so, I really do love this Batmobile, despite its flaws. I could not in good conscience give it 5 stars though.
A nice sized model for display on bookshelf or deck. It was fun to build and looks good. Gun cover plates could have been smooth like the rest of the car, and a better deployment system would have been better over the big black wheel on the side of the car, but over a a nice build for the price.
Everything came but the stickers, found a sticker on the packaging in the lego box but that was all that i could find. Had to triple check and didn't see the sticker sheet.
Process when buying made no sense and I got the run around. Had the product in hand at store but the price was more than online. Brought it to the register and showed them the online price and asked for a price match. They told me I couldn't do it and I had to put the item back and order online. It was kind of a bummer because I got the item for my son who was with me at the time. It was just a hassle and should've been price checked. People go out their way to get to these stores.
