A Superb OLED TV

Anonymous May 21, 2024

UNBOXING AND FIRST IMPRESSIONS The unboxing experience was positive, it comes in an easily removed box/packaging and can be done by one person, although it would be easier with two. Once out the box, my first impression was Wow! The top 2 thirds of the screen are impossibly thin, and even on the lower third, where all the electronics and connections are, it doesn't get that much thicker. Most of the connections are on the left-hand edge, with the power cable coming out on the right. PICTURE QUALITY This was amazing! Being OLED, the blacks are inky black, but what amazed me was how bright it gets. I had heard OLEDs don't get very bright, but I was blown away. While watching a 4k Blu-ray of Star Trek, the ships details were bright and clear, while the surrounding space was ultra dark. After a bit of fiddling, I got the skin tone to be as accurate as looking at someone face-to-face. I had to turn off most of the AI and Auto functions, as they made everything too vivid and over-saturated for my eyes, but once setup, I was so happy. Motion is dealt with very too, with no blurring that I could see, so sports look great. I have heard the screen is really good for PC and console gaming, but I haven't tried that. SOUND This was probably the weakest aspect of the TV. For an LCD/OLED, it was actually impressive at first, but there's not much bass, although the sound is nicely balanced. No amount of fiddling would let it sound anywhere near the quality of my fairly low-end Sony soundbar though, so I won't be using the in-built speakers SMART FEATURES This was another aspect that really impressed me. The WebOS platform is quite mature now and the interface is quick and easy to use, with all the apps I need available. The remote, while fairly plasticky, is a joy to use, with the gyro 'mouse' making navigating to apps much quicker than just scrolling left and right. I have noticed no slow-down with the interface yet. In fact, I will probably be retiring my nVidia Shield and just using the TV from now on, which I was not expecting. All-in-all, this is by far the best TV I have ever used, and I would recommenbd it to anyone.

Stunning Picture Quality and Immersive Experience

MohammedAli August 27, 2024

I recently upgraded to the 77-inch LG C4 OLED TV, and it has been a game-changer for my home entertainment setup. As someone who loves watching movies, sports, and gaming, I was looking for a TV that could deliver top-notch picture quality, and the C4 OLED did not disappoint. The first thing that caught my attention was the stunning display. The 4K resolution, combined with the OLED's perfect blacks and vibrant colors, makes everything look incredibly lifelike. Whether I'm watching a blockbuster movie or playing the latest video games, the picture quality is consistently breathtaking. The HDR performance is outstanding, with deep contrast and bright highlights that really pop. Another standout feature is the size. At 77 inches, this TV is truly immersive. It feels like having a movie theater in my living room. Despite the large screen, the thin bezels and sleek design make it a beautiful addition to the space. The C4 OLED is also packed with smart features. The WebOS interface is easy to navigate, and I love how quickly I can switch between streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video. The remote control's point-and-click functionality adds to the convenience, making it simple to find exactly what I want to watch. For those who have never experienced an OLED TV before, the LG C4 is an excellent introduction. The picture quality is unmatched, the smart features are intuitive, and the overall viewing experience is phenomenal. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to elevate their home entertainment setup.

LG's C4 - An Excellent OLED TV

woodsie6 July 8, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The LG C4 is a wonderful TV that arrives well packaged with a stand mount for those not wall mounting. Unlike LG's G-series, which lacks this solution, the C4 includes it. The back of the TV features a speckled, brown-grey texture, adding elegance to my setup. The bezels are incredibly thin, enhancing the immersive experience. I encountered a minor setup issue where the wizard wouldn't load the terms and conditions, and skipping didn't work. After five minutes, I restarted the TV and used the LG ThinQ app, which, combined with the Magic Remote, streamlined the setup. Adjusting picture settings makes the TV shine, with Filmmaker mode being the most accurate out of the box. Disabling some EU-mandated energy-saving settings further boosts brightness, with warnings about increased power consumption, common across all brands. The image quality is stunning, with the OLED panel delivering infinite contrast blacks and vibrant colors. Motion handling shows LG's investment in image processing. Although image burn-in is a concern, improvements and features like pixel shifting help alleviate fears. My previous LG OLED suffered screen burn after six years, so I hope this model fares better. Smart home features are extensive, with all major subscription packages available within the webOS software. Navigation is fast, and the Magic Remote offers gyroscopic control and traditional buttons. Physical connectivity is ample, with four HDMI 2.1 ports. The C4 supports Dolby Vision and 120Hz 4K for gamers, working seamlessly with my PS5. Sound quality is as expected from a slim panel, with average bass, mids, and highs. Investing in a soundbar is recommended. The TV remote lives up to its ‘Magic' name, offering the best on the market with voice control and pointer mode. A downside is the screen's reflectivity, causing glare in bright rooms. The C4's brightness is a significant upgrade, with the LG G-series as its main competitor. Another negative is the advertisements within the operating system, which are distracting and unnecessary in such an expensive device. Overall, the LG C4 is a fantastic TV likely to serve well for years, with LG continuing to raise the bar in TV development.

Gorgeous OLED TV

kris86 May 19, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We replaced an older generation LG C-series TV, a TV that we still thought had a amazing picture, but this TV kicks it up a notch. The picture is stellar, video gaming performance is absolutely S-Tier, it has a sprawling feature-set and there are enough options to truly tailor it any viewers preferences. The deep blacks and vivid colors are there as always, but the increased brightness really benefits use in a sunny room. We've got a handful of gamers in this house, so we love that it can take full advantage of the PS5 running at 120FPS. The WebOS smart platform has been updated as well and is easily one of the best smart TV OSs available. In our household, this TV is mainly for watching TV or playing games, and in that regard the sound quality is good enough. However, if you look to sound to help immerse yourself in movies, you'll likely need some auxiliary sound solutions, because the built in speakers are just OK, average. Also, why no HDR10+ support? All-in-all, it's an excellent mid-range OLED TV.

Amazing Upgrade

DrUch July 25, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Having been a convert to OLEDs after buying a C1 several years ago decided to upgrade the living room and do the same with the TV Purchased a 65inch C4 and have been amazed by how much has progressed regards screen technology within such a short space of time. Amazing contrasts and depth with astounding colour accuracy can be achieved without doing anything more then selecting different modes... The inclusion of AI algorithms does make a discernible difference to the naked eye and really highlights the improved picture clarity and colour reproduction. Given the increase in size was also amazed to find that the TV was actually lighter then our old C1 and a much more premium backplate is present...it's almost a shame to not have it on display. As an avid gamer the selection of 2.1HDMI offered is a must... Whilst I have added a soundbar the native speakers again are a step up and emersive enough to utilise without additional speakers. Highly recommended!!!!

Seeing Is Believing

GweeBs May 21, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First things first, no amount of photos or words do this TV any justice until you experience it for yourself in person. Now with that out of the way, the LG C4 OLED TV is the latest addition to LG's esteemed line of OLED TVs, known for their exceptional picture quality. The C4 model, in particular, stands out with its Alpha9 AI Processor 4K Gen 7 chip and the latest OLED EX panel with Brightness Booster. This combination results in an enhanced image performance, offering brighter full-screen visuals and more vivid highlight details. Colors are reported to be natural, accurate, and rich, providing lifelike skin tones that add to the immersive viewing experience. One of the most lauded features of the C4 is its Filmmaker Mode, which delivers excellent accuracy straight out of the box, allowing viewers to enjoy films and TV shows as they were originally intended to be seen⁴. For gamers, the C4 doesn't disappoint either. It boasts features like 4K/144Hz for compatible PC's, 4K/120Hz with Dolby Vision, NVIDIA G-Sync, AMD FreeSync Premium, and VRR, along with a Game Optimizer and dashboard. The input lag is impressively low, making it a strong contender for one of the best gaming TVs. In terms of design, the C4 maintains a similar aesthetic to its predecessor, the C3, with only minor tweaks in specifications and a slightly different material on the rear panel. It's available in various sizes, catering to different room dimensions and preferences. However, the C4 is not without its drawbacks. Critics have noted the absence of HDR10+/HDR10+ Adaptive support and have commented on the top third advertising space in WebOS 24 as an unwelcome use of screen real estate. Additionally, while there's a good amount of criticism about the sound quality, I personally think it's pretty good for a TV of its stature, but like most modern TV's I'd suggest pairing it with an optional soundbar to enhance the audio experience and get that home theater experience. Overall, the LG C4 OLED TV is highly recommended for its all-around performance, striking a balance between price and features, and offering the best of LG's mid-range offerings. It's a significant step up from the previous model and is expected to compete strongly in the mid-range OLED TV market.

Amazingly vivid picture

Vasil August 27, 2024

I bough this bigger 77” for our living room already having the 65” in the bedroom. This TV has the most vivid and natural looking motion picture I've seen. Colours are true and not over boosted - the remote control is a dissapointment. Feels and looks cheap and plasticky. The motion sensor in it is not accurate as much as my 7 years old LG to remote. However apart from the remote I have nothing else to add on the down side. The sound is quite clear and perfect for movies and watching tv in general. If you're listening to lots of music is worth considering a sound bar. I have to also mention the ultra thin bezel. It is made from brushed metal and looks very premium

Looks Amazing...Sounds Okay

MamaDoll May 30, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this TV a few weeks ago to replace an older OLED TV. Even when we went to replace it, we thought the picture on our old LG was amazing, but once we put this up we've really been blown away. The deeper blacks really make the more vivid colors pop, but what we've really noticed is how much brighter it is that our previous TV. There's a sizable window in our living room and sometimes we'd have to draw the curtains to keep it from washing out, but this TV is bright enough that it's a non-issue anymore. The smart features are plentiful and the WebOS might just be the best smart OS out there. The rest of the family plays video games on it and even I can tell the difference from our other older LED TV, it's faster and smoother. The only real gripe is that the sound quality is just okay. If you're serious about audio, you're going to want some speakers or a soundbar, or like the gamers in the house use, a headset. There's a bunch of AI sound and picture options, and while the picture seems to help upscale well, it doesn't do anything to help the sound. In fact, we found it worse with the AI Sound enabled, very tin-can-y. It's fine for TV, how it's used most here, but kind of underwhelming when we throw on an action movie. But the picture...no gripes there!

Premium Price, Surprisingly Ordinary Performance

CMH2 February 27, 2026

I recently purchased this 42-inch “top of the range” television with high expectations, given the marketing hype and premium positioning. Unfortunately, while it looks impressive on paper, the overall experience has been surprisingly underwhelming. First, the absence of a mute button on the remote control is baffling. For a flagship model, omitting such a basic and universally used function feels like a major oversight. Adjusting the volume down manually every time you need silence is inconvenient and unnecessarily frustrating. Second, one of the inbuilt apps — and one that I use regularly — consistently relocates itself from the main selection list. This means repeatedly searching for it or reorganising the interface. For a supposedly premium smart TV, the user interface should feel seamless and intuitive, not unpredictable. Most disappointing of all, despite all the marketing promises, the television itself is very ordinary. The picture quality is fine, but not exceptional. The sound is adequate, but nothing remarkable. There's nothing about the viewing experience that justifies the “top of the range” label or price point. In summary, while the television functions adequately, it falls well short of expectations for a flagship model. Basic usability issues combined with a very average overall performance make it hard to recommend at its premium price.
