Try and tell a guy:-)

Hairbrain February 9, 2023

Tell a man there are 300 billion stars in the universe and he will believe you. Tell him a bench has wet paint and he’ll have to touch it to be sure. When choosing a brush first consider what you will be finishing and what you will be using to accomplish this with. You should always use paint brushes with a filament (bristle) type, size, and shape to match the task/item to be finished and the paint/stain type. I keep three types of brushes on hand, all for different purposes. Natural, synthetic and combination bristle. If they are properly cleaned and stored, they will last for many uses. This brush is labeled “Polyurethane” which is accurate but not the end of the story. While most polyurethanes are oil based there are now several water-based poly’s on the market. This is a “Natural Bristle” brush and is NOT suited for any water-based product. It is great for oil-based poly’s and stains. “Dyed Natural Bristle” is a very important consideration. The natural composition of the animal hair is better for picking up and applying smooth coats of oil-based polyurethane. Natural bristle “Pros” include being great for oil-based paints, varnishes, poly’s, stains, and other finishes. They develop splits (flagging) in the tip giving you a smoother application of the product. A “Con” for “natural bristle” is that they are overly porous to water soluble products and will swell making them limp and unworkable. Do not use this with water-based products. If you choose a water-based finish, choose a synthetic brush. This manufacturer makes those as well. On oil-based products do not over brush and allow products to self-level somewhat and you will be very happy with this brush. It is a narrow 1.5” flat cut brush, so it is intended for smaller projects that do not require the fine cutting in of an angular cut brush. Always clean with a solvent designed for the product you are using. (Normally mineral spirits) Be sure to keep and use the cardboard cover as a form once the brush is dry. A common mistake is to store brushes upside down which allows any lose material to fall into the base causing stiffening. Always hang vertically from a peg hook or from a brush holder with the brushes at the bottom inside their cardboard sleeve, this will prevent the metal base area from getting clogged and making the brush stiff over time. If you lose the sleeve, make another one from any available glossy card stock. This brush is effective on any oil-based finish, not just polyurethane. Be sure to maintain proper ventilation when working with any oil-based product. Follow manufacturer’s directions for dry times and for multiple coat procedures. The pics are of my intarsia wood working. There are no stains or paint on the wood, only clear polyurethane. They are made of natural exotic hardwoods such as Ebony, Walnut, Padauk, Canarywood, Aspen, Purpleheart, Redwood, Monkeypod and others. The clear oil-based poly really brings out the natural color and grain. I put a great deal of effort and hours in these and would not use something that would leave brush marks or loose bristles in the finish. This brush does nicely on these less than two-foot square projects.

Perfect brush

Dhltraci February 16, 2023

Hi I just got done painting with this brush and it did an awesome job. The brush covered the surface of my step which I used nonslip paint with. It's sopposed to be used for staining and polyurethane. But I used on paint as I didn't have anything I needed stained. It's 1.5 inches long and was just the perfect size for my needs. As per all my reviews it's made in chine in case you want to know. So concluding my review I would say it's a great brush for you needs for any kind of paint.

Polyurethane quality hand brush

Sunshine February 9, 2023

Much better results than using a roller! Slower to use, but definitely more control. No bubbling and less drips to keep after. No brush bristles falling out that stick to my doors. Very easy on the hands to hold and use. Not too big and heavy, not too skinny to drop or mess it up.

Great little brush

RPM February 7, 2023

I recently re-stained the cabinets in my kitchen. I wanted to do a quality job, so I started with a quality tool. This was the first time I used a gel stain and I needed a brush suitable for gel coat stain. I also needed a brush that was the right size to reach inside all of the crevices on the face of my cabinets. Use a quality brush and you can expect good results!

Smooth finish

niceyard February 11, 2023

If you work with wood finishes you know natural bristle is the only way to go when applying one or more coats of polyurethane sealers. No matter how good your brush control is, there will always be brush strokes in the finish if you use nylon or other artificial bristle brushes. But finding good quality natural bristle bushes that do not break the bank is difficult. Linzer is a top name in brushes and finishes. They know what they are doing. And this Linzer 1.5 inch natural bristle brush is a great addition to my wood shop. It is dyed, but would be just as effective without it. It truly applies (in this case an oil-based) poly-urethane finish with no brush strokes. While it would be great to buy a fresh brush for every job, it is not always feasible. This Linzer brush cleans up very easily for use on the next project. You will not be disappointed by spending a bit more to get a great finish.

Love this brush!

deanfl February 16, 2023

Very surprised how nice this brush actually is. The tips of the bristles are very soft and not cheap, like a bristle which may simply be cut at the tip. Extremely smooth finish. Was simple to clean - I used it for latex paint. It appears as if it will hold up well after several uses.

Perfect Paintbrush For Polyurethane

momof31129 February 10, 2023

I have hundreds of paint brushes, and everyone of them have a specific function for the work I do. I needed this brush to apply polyurethane to wood trim. Because the polyurethane is thick, I needed a full bristle paintbrush to apply it. This paintbrush fit the bill, and made applying the polyurethane pretty seamless. This is called a dry blended bristle, and it’s recommended for use with polyurethane. I also appreciated the wood handle, it’s so much easier griping a wood handle than plastic handles. It cleaned up with water and dish soap, and retained its shape like it was new.

Do your own due diligence

TDogg September 8, 2023

I see lots of complaints about hairs coming off in the coating people are doing. All you have to do to prevent that is shake it out. If u see a hair out of place cut it…I did my due diligence and had no problems.. it's a little expensive but it did leave a streak free poly coat

Great for paint and stain…

MamaBear July 27, 2023

Great for paint and stain…not so much for urethane. Nearing (we hope!) the end of a 2 1/2 year diy home remodel, I was so thankful to be able to drop these brushes into my wm pickup cart and avoid yet another trip to the home improvement store. They worked great on cutting in walls (especially the angled brush), and painting small areas, trim and cabinets. They also made quick work of applying stain to cabinets and trim. That being said, and it is no surprise…they really don't claim to be…they aren't so great with urethane. They do leave an occasional bristle that is hard to see til it dries, and brush marks, even with higher end self leveling Behr products. I must admit that at 2am I didn't really care as I happened to be working on the seldom seen refrigerator and stove sides of cabinets. I took note of the issue for future projects…contentedly called the job done and sleep walked to the shower and bed.

It is not soft

Clara January 27, 2026

The brush is not soft. It is hard and when painting it leaves the lines.
