Liquid Lightning Drain Cleaner, 32 Fluid Ounce

I've never had luck with liquid drain chemicals. I've always used lye crystals because of that. But… this product may work better than lye. Only downfall is a sulfur egg smell when flushing drain with water. This product did clear my drain very effectively. I will purchase again when needed.

Okay, check out the attached image. It's a capture of the ratings left by other users of this product.The vast majority gave it Five Stars, a few gave it Four Stars. NOBODY gave it Two or Three, yet fourteen gave it only One star? Statistically, that makes little sense. Basically, the reviews were either glowing (which mine will be, in a minute), or more acidic than the product. The most likely explanation for mostly rave reviews with the next greatest number of reviews trashing the product is that those who trashed it either didn't use it properly or they have an interest in seeing you buy ANOTHER product. Judging from the wording of the negative reviews, I'd venture a guess there's a little bit of both. As for MY experience, it worked on a kitchen drain where several other products did very little good. This drain would occasionally clog completely and applications of some other chemicals have gotten the water flowing again, but never really the way it should. At times, it's flowed satisfactorily, if a bit slowly... just enough for me to feel I could let it go for awhile. I've used Liquid Plumr, Drano, and others -- and different formulations (slow drain fixers, Clog Destroyers, etc.) with varying degrees of success. This past week, I was getting more worried than I have been in several years. I had poured over 3 gallons of different products, interspersed with some vigorous plunging. The water sped up a bit at times, then slowed to a trickle with only a few more rounds of washing dishes. I was bracing myself for what seemed to be the inevitable rodding. (Getting a snake through the entire path of this 15+ foot drain path is problematic, so I was leaving that as a last resort.) Alas, in the back of the cabinet below the kitchen sink, I found a forgotten bottle of Liquid Lightning that I had bought on a trip to WalMart some weeks ago, intending to try it out when the, ahem, "opportunity" presented itself. I wish I had found -- or remembered -- it sooner. Due to the length and shape (p-trap, two horizontal runs) of pipe where I knew the problem was, I was not convinced that using half of the bottle (per the instructions) would get the acid where it needed to be. I slowly poured the entire 32-ounce bottle into the drain. I then waited 20 minutes (not 15) while it worked. Thinking about how quickly flushing loosened gunk in the long pipe could result in a clog further along that long pipe, I only ran cold water down the drain for about 5 to 10 seconds. Then I waited another 20 minutes. Still worried about clogs half-dissolved in that long pipe, I ran the cold water just another 5 to 10 seconds -- and waited 20 minutes more. Finally, I ran the cold water full blast for about a minute, then filled both of my sinks (it's a double sink setup) and pulled both drain plugs at once. WHOOSH!!! The water is flowing more freely than it ever has in the 20 years that we've owned this house. Now I'm going to try to use some enzymatic products to keep the nasties from building up in the pipes, but I'm also going to pick up some more Liquid Lightning so that I have a sure-fire fix, should the enzymes (or my memory) prove ineffective.

Hello, I had a pretty bad clog in my shower. I tried several different drain cleaners and they didn't work. So I gave this one a try after looking up sailfuric acid drain cleaners, I just follow the direction very carefully and after 25min I had a clear drain. Very happy and will use and recommend again :D

We've been using this for years - only thing that works for our basement drain. We've tried everything else. Follow the directions *exactly* as written. Don't let it come in contact with any of your fixture finishes (chrome, bronze, nickel). It will discolor it. Most importantly, I strongly urge everyone to take all precautions to cover your skin and eyes. It *will* burn you. I wear long gloves and safety glasses. Even pouring it slowly into the drain results in tiny splash ups that you won't know about until your skin begins to burn.

After I tried "Professional Strength" drain cleaner, and my apartment maintenance guy then tried their drain cleaner...my tub was still filling up with water while showering (mid-calf height). I had used this stuff years ago, and really had to search it out - straight-up sulfuric acid - this stuff WORKS - eats/melts the hair clogs like magic (you can hear it sizzle when you pour it in the drain). Tub no longer fills up with water while showering !!! Definite THUMBS UP! (NOTE: It can burn you - be very careful with it - and I close/seal the drain after I put it inside to let it do its thing for about 15-30 minutes... use it VERY sparingly as it only takes a LITTLE (like an 1/8th of a cup). Too much and you will have caustic fumes consuming you bathroom, possibly your house!)

it doesn't have that knockout punch like it used to I remember it used to clear my drain when it was clogged and now I still have a little water standing in it still.

clear it out but puts staines in your bathtub. It smells bad.It staines uou bathtub and shower and is very hard to get off I scrub all day trying to get it off my bathtub and shower.

Do not buy for clogs didn't work and had plumber come out pipe was clogged with hair. it didn't even work on hair it's not going to work on anything and the smell was horrible.

We had a slow draining of the bathroom sink and shower with a smell that was hard to cover with air freshener. The clog was only slight but becoming more noticeable after every use. The cleaner was easy to use but it did not have the same outcome as previous drain cleaners. We had to make an additional purchase to resolve the issue.
