Perfect for outdoor animals! Water still freezes, but at least you can get the ice out without the bowl breaking. These will last forever, I will never need to buy another one!
My two minis and I love these Feeding Pans. They're super sturdy which was a requirement for me when it came to feeding on the ground, and they're super easy to clean with soap and water. With them being rubber, I don't have to worry about my ponies stepping on them as they're super forgiving and won't crack like hard plastic. These pans are also super easy to travel with and stack really nicely. Based on the quality and high durability, I anticipate these pans lasting forever!
It's a lot bigger than I expected. It works well for my horse to feed grain in, or to wet down some alfalfa cubes. I think it's a good feed pan for a good price.
This is a high quality feed pan that stands up to hard use. My gelding has stepped in it many times and it bounces right back. Cleans well and performs its function very well.
I have been putting off replacing my old feed pans as I had been having trouble finding what I liked. I realized SmartPak had some when I ordered a supplement and they were a great price. I received them a few days ago and noticed the quality right away. Yes, they do smell like a tire, but the horses did not have a problem eating out of them. I expect they will last many years.
I purchased this feed tub, because I have a very active horse in stall. He will knock down the normal plastic feed buckets, then plays with them all day in his stall. I feel better feeding him out of this, knowing that after he eats, he can play with it and it wont break and have sharp edges that have the potential to hurt him. It is very durable and can take a beating. I will be buying more of these.
My older horses need bran mash every now and then to keep their systems regular. While they generally clean everything up, sometimes they would leave mash behind in their fixed corner feeders. I started using this product to feed their mash separately. It's great because a simple rinse and all the remnants are gone! It's also very durable, so you don't have to fear leaving it in the stall with a horse.
My horse refused to eat his grain *at all* the first few times we tried to feed with these after they arrived. I can understand why--the off-gassing smell of the rubber is *very* potent and is basically like sticking your face in a new tire. We have been letting them sit outside and weather a bit before trying to feed him with them again. A little frustrating, since these are obviously meant for animal feeding and he can't be the only one who didn't like the smell. About two weeks later, we tried again, and he ate most of the food, but wasn't interested in licking the bowl clean and left some behind. Fed out of a different container, he licks up every crumb. I'm sure they will perform well over time, once they are less smelly and he will actually eat out of them.
the smell on the dish when opening it up was so strong, i had to keep it outside for a week.
I bought this last month...I don't regret buying it, but next time I'll buy the bigger one for sturdiness. This one flexes too much if you put a lot in it.
