Lodge Cast Iron Loaf Pan, 8.5" x 4.5"

I have a couple of large lodge fry pans which I like using for specific recipes I wanted to try a loaf pan to make some bread and cornbread in. It does say seasoned already but I always re-season it myself too. I will rub some vegetable oil on it and place it in an oven a very hot oven for about an hour and that will help season it. I am hoping this is going to make a nice crusty Italian bread also.

This Lodge Cast Iron pan is great! I got the loaf pan and it's perfect for all kinds of breads (it measures 8.5 by 4.5 inches). Our favorite is homemade honey cornbread. The crust comes out perfectly golden. I have multiple cast iron pans of various shapes and sizes, all Lodge brand. I got several pans when I got married 20 years ago and they are still going strong! It is made in the USA and will last generations! Lodge cast iron is high quality, heavy duty, and made in the USA (in Tennessee). I really appreciate and trust this company- they've been around for over a century! Cast iron is healthy (no weird chemicals, just iron), it heats evenly, and it's so easy to use. It may seem intimidating, but its actually really simple. If you're new to cast iron, just remember that oil is your friend. These come pre-seasoned, so to keep that naturally nonstick surface, don't let the pans soak in water, ever. Simply handwash, dry immediately, and oil your pan inside and out before putting it away. That's it. This loaf pan also has handles so it's easy to place in and take out of the oven. I'd highly recommend Lodge Cast Iron to anyone! Lodge an Made-In-America company has been my go-to for cast iron and this loaf pan does not disappoint. Lodge products arrive pre-seasoned and ready to go. This baking pan weighs a whopping 4 lbs. 4.5 oz. As recommended, I sprayed a baker spray mix of oil/flour, poured in my fluffy cornbread mixture and tossed in the oven. My bread baked evenly and obtained the gorgeous slightly brown edge. The cornbread lifted out without any sticking and the best part was how incredibly fast the cleanup was. I always wipe the inside with an oiled paper towel after drying. Want a perfect bread, then get the perfect pan.

This loaf pan is awesome! It's extremely heavy-duty and looks great. Things cook nice and evenly and taste great. Looking forward to making my next banana bread in this! I highly recommend this pan and I'm thinking it will last forever and become an heirloom to pass on to your kids!

The lodge 8.5 by 4.5 seasoned cast iron loaf pan is very well made. I made banana bread in this and it came out perfect. I love that it's already pre seasoned . I also love that it comes with clear instructions on how to clean the pan. Hand wash, dry promptly , apply thin layer of oil over entire surface after each use. It's so easy to use and so easy to clean. I was always afraid of using cast iron because I didn't know how to clean it, but Lodge makes it so easy. Would definitely recommend to others.

Cast iron seasoned loaf pan. I absolutely love cast iron and have several Lodge brand. I love that they are seasoned at the foundry already, so you can take them home and use them right away. These make excellent gifts because they will last my lifetime and my kids lifetime. This pan is 8.5" by 4.5" and I use this pan for making bread, meatloaf, dessert breads, like banana bread (pic included). Before you bake just use a layer of non-stick spray. Which is what I did when making my banana bread, turned it over on a plate, and it came out in one beautiful loaf. I use cast iron the majority of the time. It withstands high heat, it doesn't scratch, warp, dent, bend and it just gets better with age. Which is why cast iron makes a great gift as well. Cast iron is easy to use and you shouldn't be intimidated if you haven't used cast iron before. You clean it after each use, dry it right away, and apply a thin layer of cooking oil over the entire surface before you put it back in the cupboard. Easy! Lodge is made in the USA in Pittsburgh Tennessee where it's been making cast iron for 125 years. Lodge cast iron would make a great gift for new home buyers, wedding gifts, new and seasoned Cooks alike. I decided to make a turkey meatloaf in this cast iron loaf pan and it turned out great. I am familiar with cooking in cast iron, since my Mom used cast iron all the time. She had a cast iron pan and cooked just about anything in it. My only drawback is the weight of cast iron. You have to have muscles to use these cooking pans, but you will appreciate the results.

I have numerous loaf pans, but all are rusting and just don't cook bread without sticking. This pan is definitely the answer. The pan is preseason so I didn't have to oil and bake it. I did hand wash, dry and rub it with oil before the first use. Unlike other pans the cast iron will not dent or warp in the oven. You do have to preheat the empty pan before using. I made the batter while the pan was in the oven. Once it got to temp, I added the batter and let it cook. I wasn't sure about any adjustments in timing so the top didn't brown as much this time. I could have added a few minutes and will next time. The bread did not stick. It came out of the pan perfectly. This cast iron loaf pan works great. It was easy to hand wash after use. It does need to be dried immediately and rubbed with oil. I don't have to put it in the oven after like some cast iron. It is very heavy compared to other pans However, it cooks better than other pans without sticking. It says you can use this and leave the baked goods in the pan, but I doubt I do this so that I can clean the pan right away so that is ready to use again. I highly recommend this loaf pan. It cooks evenly and cleanup is not hard.
