I am extremely satisfied with the Logitech Driving Force Shifter. The build quality is solid and it feels durable and well-made. The gear changes are smooth, precise, and add a whole new level of realism to my racing experience. It integrates perfectly with my Logitech wheel and was very easy to set up. I love this shifter because I'm not exactly gentle when playing a racing game and the shifter stays firmly on my desk.
Honestly it's an amazing product. I wish I could give it 5 stars, BUT, longevity isn't its strong suit. Use it for chill simulators and it's fine, no issues for years, once you get into racing or games where you don't realize how rough you may be on it, it will mistake gears or not read them. I have been through 3 of these shifters over 4 years now and can fully back my claim. They all did the same thing.
One was given to me as a gift. It lasted maybe a week before it started malfunctioning. Shifting to 1st gear when it was in the 3rd gear "notch" and 2nd gear when in the 4th gear notch. So I purchased another one and it's good so far. As far as the operation and feel go, it's good. No complaints there, we'll see how durable this second one is. The same malfunction I have seems to be a common complaint.
Doesn't work well mounted to a desk. Not impressed with the way it attaches to the desk. I found it to be nearly useless to use. It might work better with something you could screw it to, but just “binding” it to a desk doesn't work.
