There is a spoon with a hole in it that might make stirring a bit less messy. A couple that can also be used for stir-fry and for a large salad bowl. Pretty sturdy too.
This is a great starter set for new home owners! This 5 piece Bamboo Kitchen Tool Utensil set has all of the of the wooden utensils you could ever need in your kitchen. I love bamboo products in the kitchen because they are durable, sustainable and nice looking all at once. I use them to stir when cooking because they can really stand up to the her unlike plastic and silicone utensils. They recommend hand washing. They are easy to wash and don’t stain like other wooden spoons I’ve had. I recommend this set to anyone.
These are really good quality. I like that they all have slits in them. It’s hard to find sets with the slots. They are nice looking as well as practical. I recommend washing by hand and letting it air dry. I would recommend these for anyone looking.
With as expensive as good quality non-stick pots and pans have become, we take great pains to not scratch up the non-stick surface. One of the ways we do that is by using wooden utensils as much as possible. As with just about anything made of wood, scrapers, forks spoons and scoopers eventually wear out, crack, chip and need to be replaced. We recently acquired a bamboo cutting board and really liked its hardness and the way it cleaned up. So, we decided to give bamboo utensils a shot. The Mainstays five piece Bamboo Utensil set gives us just about everything we need, except a ladle, and those we have only ever seen in plastic or metal. The flat edge scraper works great for pushing small items around and also works as a holder when used in combination with the bamboo fork for shredding chicken and pork for BBQ or quesadilla’s. The slotted spoon is great for stirring and blending thinner soups, etc, or when picking things that need the liquid drained. Blending thicker things like gravies is easily done with the “flat spoon” with the large hole in the center. And, of course, you have the standard spoon. We have not found anything yet that permanently stains the bamboo, which is great. Not even chili. Only one caveat with this set. Prior to first use, be careful and check the edges all around for potential of splinters. One of the utensils in our set needed some fine sanding to eliminate some rough spots.
I’ve never used bamboo tools before but I broke my favorite set of utensils so I figured why not. I really like the weight of them and how easily they clean. So far no scratches on my pans though I am very careful and I love being able to toss a salad with them.
For the most part, these are a good alternative to plastic utensils and they look nice in the kitchen. These actually didn't stain as bad as I thought they would after using them in barbecue sauce and collards. They are sturdy, but you just have to be careful not to let them soak in liquid according to the instructions. That can be hard to remember when you're cooking something in a pot that you have to stir occasionally and when you are busy cleaning dishes while you cook and putting utensils in the sink.
I love wooden spoons especially for cooking, since they are gentle to use on certain pots and pans. This mainstays bamboo set is very basic. They are good to use for a while but after you wash them I noticed a few slivers of wood coming off of the spoons. They Start to feel rough and I have to use a paper towel to clean them .
I’ve had these about 2/3wks, while I like them since they don’t damage our pots/pans, these retain smell when you use them. I’m Latina and i use a lot of seasoning in my food and these utensils smell like them so because of this I wouldn’t want more. I can now only use them in cooking but not for other things so I don’t transfer anything.
Be careful purchasing these. I bought mine in store (pickup order not delivery to home) and they had black mold on them. Threw them out. They are a great value for the price but I didn't get to use them.
I ordered these for curbside pickup. When I got home and opened them, they had moldy spots all over each piece. I had to return them! Disgusting!
