This set of 4 spatulas is all I need to most of the stovetop cooking I do. They are colorful, flexible, and strong. The handle is a thick wood that will stand up to any thick batter. The rubber end is well attached to the handle and safe for non stick cookware. I like the happy colors.
You can never have enough spatulas in the kitchen. They're great for mixing, folding, stirring, and cooking. These Mainstays spatulas fit the ticket pretty well. The blades are quite flexible, heat resistant to 450 degrees, and a wood handle. So far I've only made an omelet which you have to lift the edge of the egg from the pan and the blade does this job well in my non stick pan. The handle is the only thing I do not really love about these; its wood which is great, but the shape just feels a little strange in my hands. They do not feel flimsy or brittle, but they're just a little thin for my larger hands. Again, they feel sturdy enough for regular use, but I simply prefer a larger handle. Not anything I would say as a downside considering the value for these spatulas.
These Mainstays Silicone Spatulas, with wooden handles, come in a four pack and all four are a different color; red, lime-green, navy blue, and turquoise. They are approximately 12 inches tall from top to bottom. The wood handles' sides and bottoms are slightly rounded and feel good in your hand. Because I do a lot of cooking and baking, I have found silicone products to be great on non-stick pans because the silicon will not scratch or damage a non-stick pan like metal utensils would. Also, if I'm mixing up cake batter in a bowl, I know the silicone spatula will easily scrape every bit of the batter out of the bowl and into the baking pans so there will be no waste. I've found silicone products never lose their shape either. The care instructions say to "hand wash and dry only" which is what I normally do anyway. On each silicone spatula, in raised letters, it says "heat resistant to 450 degrees" but I don't cook anything higher than that anyway. I feel these will last many years.
I made french onion soup dip in sour cream with my first spatula. I really love the light, wooden handles and I noticed that they don't splinter. I also love the colors, but as for the spatula itself, they're a little flimsy toward the end and bend easily when trying to scrape out every bit of food cleanly. I think they're better than most other spatulas but I wish the ends could have been a little thicker, sturdier. Also I'm not for sure how long these will last and if they can withstand heat. For the little use I've gotten out of them, I like them so far.
I love the size and shape and weight of these. Great value for the price. Unfortunately, the handles will turn black with mildew if left to soak in sink before washing. HOWEVER, you can prevent this. When you first purchase them, pull out handles, rub the handles with safflower or soybean oil (cheap) and leave in sun or warm oven to “cure.” Repeat a couple of times if you can. Now they are GREAT!
These have a wooden handle and are very light in hand. The spatula part is adequate. They are quite thin. The rubber has a good amount of give in them. I suspect with frequent use, the handle may not prove strong enough since, in hand, it feels like it is unfinished wood. Give them enough cleaning with soap and water after use and they may not hold up. I use them for folding icing, getting batter out of a bowl, or lightly tossing a pasta salad.
The spatula are pretty, it has bright colors, but the plastic of the spatula is very thin and bends easily, if the mixture is hard I don't think I can take it off, I think it's too cheap, I can't give it 5 stars. It has a wooden bra and I don't think it's durable. You can also remove the head as shown in the image.
Bought some a few years ago that were great. Just bought a new pack as my old ones wore out. 2 of 4 have already broken. The bottom half of the silicone breaks off when using with head, not close to the 400* threshold. Digging a chunk of silicone out of what you are making is not good.
I do like that the handles are longer than other silicone scrapers I owned in the past. However, the silicone is thin & wouldn't be practical for heated items such as homemade fudge or frostings. I'm not sure what wood the handles are crafted of but it is smooth, even tho raw & untreated. Ok value for the price.
I've had wooden handled kitchen tools before. The wood was sealed, kiln-dried or roasted so that it wouldn't wick up any fluid that touched it. Maybe good for a potluck, think of it as an overpriced disposable. The silicone end is so unresilient that a single use bends it. Dollar store products and IKEA offer better products at a better price.
