I have purchased several of these for my Prayer plant, Fittonia's, Calathea's, Croton's, and I gotta say I love them. Now for watering I use distilled water or I pick up water conditioner from the pet department for watering my plants so the terracotta doesn't get white shale from the additives in tap water. I like the face the base is plastic given I have back issues and cannot lift heavy things. These work out great for me given how lightweight they are it makes my plant care with my disability so much easier and my thirsty plants are thriving in them.
I like these pots extremely well. They are great for plants that don't like a lot of water hanging around the roots like sansevieria. They are a little heavy but I am elderly and I'm able to work work with them just fine. I wish they had a larger one like a 12 inch but I have not been able to find them and Walmart isn't carrying them except for the little small ones 4 inches I would buy more if they did
It's a self watering pot! Not much to say! For the lazy person in your life or perhaps you are lazy. Water the plant a lot. The excess water drains to the bottom of the pot. The pot snaps inside another pot or container. That container hold the extra water. This way, you don't have to get your lazy butt of the couch as often to water your plant.
These self watering pots are fantastic for African violets and begonias, which need evenly and consistently moist soil. The inner pot is a true, porous terracotta clay pot and it does not have a drainage hole (which is expected). It is also rather thick so the movement of water into the soil is nice and slow. I haven't had any issue with soil becoming wet, it stays on the damp side of moist. The inside of the inner pot is about the same as a 2.5 nursery pot. Normally this kind of led watering pot costs much more than the plastic wicking self watering pot. The price during the July sale was an exceptional deal.
i love that it's a self watering pot but looks differently than most. It's fun and modern. I got a smaller one and really like it, esp in az. It works great.
It's really nice-looking. I love the self-watering. The clear plastic part that holds the water is arguably kind of cheap. I don't know how long it will last. But I will enjoy it as long as it does (and it was cheap enough to be replaceable)
Love these for many of my plants. The ability to see the water level is great for monitoring what needs to be watered. I have these in 4-, 6-, and 8-inch sizes. I plan to order more for next year.
I think they're great, but was very disappointed that the 8 inch are no longer available. I ordered them, expected them, and then when they didn't show up, I need to reconsider whether I can use these or not.
The price is average. The pot has a plastic exterior, which makes it a bit fragile considering it holds terracotta. The terracotta liner moves around inside the plastic shell, so be careful when handling it, especially since it's a bit bulky. Also, keep in mind that the listed size refers to the plastic exterior, which measures 4 inches across. The actual terracotta insert is smaller, about 2.5 inches in diameter.
Molded after one week. I am sensitive to mold and have asthma. I bought three of these pots in three different sizes. I have a self watering pot but all plastic with no mold issue. I want a refund for all three. I wish for extra for the wasted expensive soil (Tezula Premium New Zealand Tree Fern Fiber $28) that will have to be throughout now.
