This unit is the most sturdy I have put together in many years. I have recently moved and have put together many, many items like this recently. It is really sturdy and looks great. It uses actual screws and nails. The directions were easy to understand and follow. This was a great purchase!
Diy-ed it to be a backpack "locker" station for this upcoming school year since I'll have 1 in TK and 1 in 1st grade and I didn't want to have EVERYTHING from school land on the dinner table every day after school. Look's like it'll work to hold backpacks, jackets, and bins for paperwork etc...
it was incredibly easy to put together. it would feel more sturdy if i connected it to the wall but honestly holds up fine since i dont pull on it. one of the cheaper storage unit options so feel the price is comparable though maybe slightly over priced (isnt everything though?)
Let me save you time. To build this with only 1 person, lay the top and sides near each other, then put the screws in so the top and sides stay together. Then add the center pieces on the row, then add the next shelf (C), put it in place then screw it in again. Other than learning how to build this the hard way, it's worth the money.
Great organizer shelf and we love the Target branded cubby shelfs as it doesn’t have visible particle board showing on one side like others. It’s great for the price. You could always do a DIY project with it to create something in your home or office. It’s not a sturdy shelf but it does the job overall. It can easily scratch and get water damage but its a good shelf for the price, it could probably be a cheaper shelf but its works.
The only thing I didn't like was the backings were made out of thin cardboard (easily breakable). Everything else, I have so far enjoyed. The assembly process was moderate. I had assistance setting it up and the person whom helped me had concerns with the placement of the screws in the sense he thought it was “stripping”. We hadn't put the mounted piece for the wall on it. Probably should but I personally didn't want to drill a whole in the middle of the top shelf and see a metal piece on top every time I looked at it. But that's my preference. At the moment it's up and holding.
I bought the white one for my mom, put it together with no issues. I bought myself one and one of the “d” square boards didn't have any holes drilled for the dowels. I about lost my mind. I was unsuccessful at making any type of hole so I put it together and I'm praying it stays supported. The worst part of the experience is Walmart's customer support. The box was damaged upon delivery, covered in laundry detergent! There is absolutely no way to resolve this as you have to physically take all the pieces (without a box because you have to rip it apart to get everything out) back to the store for a refund!!
plastic dowels too small for the project type. most cheap cabinets have a solid piece of cardboard to hold the back together, not this one... its a couple small pieces. screws immediately strip out the worst mdf board ive ever come across. currently adding wood glue, brackets, and a proper backing. bought on sale (shocking i know) some deals are too good to be true DO NOT BUY
I haven’t bought a cube shelf in years, but I was in need of one for my kid’s room and thus ordered from Walmart. However, upon assembling the unit, I was dismayed to find the plastic dowels provided were flimsy and insufficient. Following a fruitless search for suitable dowels, I planned to employ wood hot glue to reinforce the structure. Unfortunately, the assembly process was further compromised when the components malfunctioned, bending the plastic dowels and breaking the cheap particleboard. $45 on this unit and $20 on additional materials. I will proceed with returning the defective shelf tomorrow.
Literally fell apart as soon as we put it together followed directions the dowels are plastic and the boards blew out zero stability do not recommend for any valuable items or use in bedroom especially don’t recommend for your classroom or children’s room this couldn’t hold a piece of paper let alone your valuables or artwork
