Mainstays Glass Door Storage Cabinet Bookcase, Black Finish

Wanted a Billy case from Ikea they wanted 90 buck to deliver. And was going to take 3weeks. They are out. Found this. No delivery charge. And had it I. Two days. Looks amazing. Ordering another. Put it in my sewing room for my fabrics

Packaged extremely well (was worried about the glass doors but didn’t have to be), very fast and easy to put together even with the kids running around, only the doors were heavy and needed my husband’s help to attach them. Can be a little tricky to get the doors completely even and also to get two of the bookcases to perfectly fit next to eachother but after some tweaks it looks great. Storing mainly curriculum in them but also great as display cabinets. Right now securing the door knobs with rubber bands so the toddler can’t open them. After putting together the first we also bought a second one and could even imagine buying a third. Very good value for money.

Very easy to assemble as it uses cam locks that are already in place. Quality is good but as expected for price. Very top (outside) of bookshelf or not load bearing so unfortunately cannot (safely) place any decorations up there. Most shelves are adjustable. Can see remaining dowel holes within the shelf, does not come with any stickers to cover them.

Cabinet is very sturdy and easy to put together however I ordered 2 of these and both had been damaged in shipment. One arrived open and one of the hinges was bent. The other has damage to 2 wood panels but I was able to still use them. I contacted Walmart to replace the damaged hinge thinking it would be a simple process of them sending me a new one. Nope. They are unable to send me a new hinge unless I return the entire cabinet that weights 133 pounds. They were however able to reimburse me the cost to replace the hinge, hopefully I can find the correct one that fits. Overall I think the cabinets are still worth it considering the price. I was looking at IKEA Billy but they were twice as much. Tip: put the doors on while the cabinet is flat on the ground. The instructions say to lift the cabinet first but it’s a lot easier to screw the doors on while the cabinet is on the ground.

Assembly instructions need to be more descriptive. The QR codes on the pages leads to an outdated website which the bookshelf isn’t listed on. The “twist lock” cannon bolts can easily be pushed out of wack and it can be frustrating when trying to line up 4-6 bolts.

The cabinet looks nice and the price is affordable, but the quality is hit or miss. After fully assembling it, I noticed the glass doors are misaligned and not the same height, which makes the unit look uneven. Unfortunately, this wasn’t noticeable until the item was completely built. Assembly took a good amount of time, so returning it wasn’t realistic once the issue was discovered. Walmart customer service did help with a partial refund and store credit, which I appreciated. Overall, it works fine for budget storage, but don’t expect perfect alignment or premium quality. I recommend checking everything carefully during assembly.

I bought this bookshelf for my son’s legos because it has glass doors. It looks great set up but did come damaged. My husband set it up when I wasn’t home, I would have stopped him and returned it. It was also extremely heavy. It’s good for the price if it wasn’t damaged. I attached the damaged pictures. The scratch is on the side of the shelf and the dent (looks like the wood expanded) is on the door. Also the box was damaged but I don’t think it’s the reason why the product was damaged. I’m disappointed by Mainstays bookshelves. This is the second one I ordered (last one I ordered was the doorless one) and both came in damaged.

I ordered 3 of these cabinets and ALL 3 arrived considerably damaged. They were very poorly packaged causing crushed corners and edges, cracked panels, and broken glass. The return process having FedEx pick them up has proven to be difficult. We ended up ordering different cabinets from Wayfair.

Poorly made Sent in one box that weighed 100 pounds! Falling apart right out of the box Ordered 2 and they were both falling apart The return was excellent though Don’t waste your money This is on some influencers “Best Buy” lists Don’t be fooled- pass on this one

Reecceived wirh damaged parts and one assembly part very defective. Contacted for replacement parts, etc. Only option they gave was that I, an elderly person, would have to load up and return to store. I had requested it be left on. covered porch, but it was left outside in yard, in the rain. Probably delivery person had founnd it too heavy and just dumped out of their truck ??? Cardboard and packing were soak through. I had to carry each piece individually into my garage until I could get help to bring it inside the house. Terrible customer service all around. Friend found an extra piece from similar item they had. got extra in a different color, but we madd it work. Cracked bottom shelf, we dealt with and hoped it would hold up if we treated it with gentle caution and nothing heavy on it. Be careful who you trust. I am not happy.
