Item has sturdy brackets to go over the door. It Wii hold a number of shoes. And the Elderly won't trip over it since it hangs on the door. That also elevates the shoes so no bending is necessary to get a pair to wear. I highly recommend this item. A great deal for the price.
Shoe rack came quickly. It is made of sturdy metal with mesh for pockets. The gray color is nice. This rack holds so many shoes! Now I can see them. You need a deep closet so the door can shut. It can be hung over the door easily. Highly recommend.
I didn't expect to like this as much as I do, but here we are. It went together quickly, hangs over the door without any drama, and somehow holds way more shoes than I thought it would. I love being able to actually see everything instead of digging through a pile on the floor. It feels solid for what it is, not wobbly or cheap, even when it's loaded up. If you're short on space and tired of tripping over shoes, this is one of those boring purchases that quietly makes your life better.
This rack is working out very well %26 it's really the space-saver I needed! I live in an old NYC studio apartment, so EVERYTHING is about utilizing space as effectively as possible, as every inch becomes seen as valuable real estate! That said, despite my careful measuring ahead of ordering, I still discovered some snags that nearly cost a return. If you're one who reads %26 relies on purchaser's experiences to gauge how they apply to your situation, read on for mine. In a nutshell, my two main snags came down to additional measurements I hadn't considered originally and the hardware that comes with to hang the rack. That said, if you're planning to hang this rack, for instance, on the backside of a walk-in closet door where hung clothes won't be right by the door, you can stop reading here. But if you have smaller doors and/or shallow closets, like a coat closet for example, this is for you. MEASURING Measure your door width from the INSIDE edge of the door knob across to the hinged edge, not the overall width. Why? Because while width has to be your first consideration, it's the DEPTH that's as important or more. 1. If you think you can straddle the knob to gain width, you can't. The depth of the rack won't clear the frame %26 you can't close the door! Therefore, on a narrower door like mine, to clear the knob meant pushing the opposite side of the rack toward the hinged edge of the door. No room to spare! And that worked for me, but I drove a thick nail at the bottom edge just to keep the rack aligned straight 100% on the door itself. 2. Next, depth of the rack WITH SHOES ON IT is a crucial measurement ( I mean how far out the shoe heels stick out beyond the 7” depth of the rack itself) for two reasons: • Even when you get the rack itself to clear the door frame, adding shoes creates more of a depth issue to factor in. • The bigger your feet, the further your shoes stick out, which not only adds to the door closing dilemma, but also, you have to consider how close those dirty heels will come in contact with your clean clothes hanging inside the closet when the door shuts! Side note: shoe width might be something to consider in terms of how many pairs can actually fit. I'm a 9.5M. Two pair per shelf fit perfectly with room for one more shoe or a pair of flats/sandals wrapped together. Huge men's feet could be a problem. Measure. HARDWARE This rack comes with some pretty thick steel pieces that can allow you to either hook them atop your door OR be drilled to the door itself (there are drill holes!), they did not work for me. They were too thick for my old doors that have decades of paint on them. That's what nearly cost a return. However, this rack - which I originally bought to go on my second closet until I had depth issues - replaced a different hanging organizer. So I switched the hooks and to my surprise, it worked!
I saw this item (Hanging Shoe Rack) in Walmart and said, "What the Heck? Bought it and recommended to my sister in another state. She got one and her son put it together. It's a great item, but my sister had to find a door wide enough to hold the shoe rack --(her closet doors were small, so she had to place over her bedroom door). I put mine together the next day. It was a bit of a challenge, and I got the bottom wrong (but can still store shoes in it). I went to get another one from Walmart and found one marked down by almost $13.00. I decided to roll the dice and buy it anyway. Turns out, everything was in the box except the directions. Because I bought and put one together before, I bested my 1 %26 1/2 hour first effort by 30 minutes on my second rack -- without instructions AND I got the bottom correct this time. So, I have two of them!!!! I love them!!! I can store more than 36 pairs of shoes because most of them are sandals and pairs can be stacked one on another. I recommend it to anyone who need to store a whole lot of shoes.
This is worth the cost. Easy to put together (has very detailed directions). I have it hanging on our laundry room door where we enter and exit our home. Very sturdy . My favorite thing...it is a visual reminder for my kids to take their shoes off when they enter the house! Thats worth its weight in gold!
Shoe rack is perfect for my size 7 shoes and sneakers. May have an issue for larger sized shoes. Took care of the clutter and freed up very needed space. We'll see about dust…I may come to hate it but for now shoe rack is working out great for the price.
First, measure your inner closet area, if you plan to hang inside door. If closet not deep enough, shoes will touch clothes. Mens shoes are longer and may need to be put in lengthwise, which will result in fewer shoes in unit. The unit does take a while to assemble, but fairly easy. The plus is not taking up floor space with your shoes.
Assembly is easy but it takes a while. I like the full door length and capacity of this over the door shoe rack. I put all my shoes in and it still has room. Tennis shoes and sandals fit nicely but Taller or bulkier shoes/boots only really fit on the top rack. It's pretty stable. I don't use the door that I installed it on but I imagine it would be noisy if it was on a door that you regularly use because the bottom isn't secured or padded to the door
Do not buy!!! I received a faulty one but didn't know until started to break after a few weeks. Contacted Walmart and they refuse to refund me, or send me a replacement unless I return the item. An item that took me forever to put together and without a box that it came in because it wasn't faulty when I first put it up. DO NOT BUY because they won't help you if you get a faulty one.
