Mainstays Single Coil Electric Burner and Hot Plate, 1100W, Black

I have celiac's and am on a cross country road trip. I found out one of the places I'm staying has no cooktop for me to make safe foods. I quickly ordered this thing to use in my hotel room and it has been a life saver. I do need to have the heat up high but it has cooked my chicken and veggies dinners with no problem. For this price, I would highly recommend. Does the job and isn't heavy or bulky for travel.

this is the first hot plate I've found that actually heats up like a range burner. I've tried several, cast iron plate, infrared, standard coil, none of them could boil water. This burner is a game changer! The temperature control is accurate, it heats very quickly, it gets HOT, and cooks evenly. I highly recommend.

A nice little hot plate if you need extra cooking space or craft projects that require heating. It's lightweight and easy to store away. It gets hot very quickly, but you do have to learn how to manage the temperature dial. Like most hot plates, it cycles on and off automatically to prevent overheating. My only con would be that it feels cheaply made. Overall, it absolutely does the job for the price.

Needed this in a pinch, and it really did the job well! it heats up fast and it boiled a big pot of water in a short amount of time (not any longer than my stovetop at home). aits very light and can be easily transported, but don't let the weight fool you, this little thing is a workhorse!

Our stove broke down, and we purchased this as a temporary replacement until we could save enough money for a new one. There is a little issue with temperature regulation, but once you get the hang of it, it works great.

Looked everywhere for the coil type hot plate. I could only fine the black glass type and didn't want that due to my using a cast iron skillet which scratches the glass. This unit meets my needs with the exception of its size. Would like it to have a larger coil cooking circumference.

The reason I only gave 3 stars is because the item keeps automatically shutting off as you're cooking. So if you're frying something or have a pot cooking rice, you have to stay next to the element because it will automatically shut off. You'll be cooking and all of a sudden you realize, it's taking longer to fry someone or the water has stopped simmering/boiling and you look down and realize the element has shut itself off. So you have to dial the knob to off, wait a few seconds to reset, then turn it back up to reheat again. It's very frustrating and it takes twice as long to cook something.

There were lots of bad reviews before I bought it. I should have listened. The temperature control doesn't work properly. Even if you put it on the lowest setting burner gets extremely hot. I would not leave unattended fou even a second.

The electric burner does not stay on, it will heat up for a bit but then shuts off allowing what ever you are cooking to cool off for a long while then it will heat up again. Not good at all

If you want to cook, this is not the right product that I look for. because during the cooking it goes Off and you have to wait for a while till gets back to heating again. Personally I didn't liked.
