Before making this purchase, I read the reviews first. Overall it seemed better than the reviews on the toastmaster burner. I've had burner for 4 months now and it's been great! The only issues I've had was at the very first few days, after burning off the coating on the burner per the included instructions, the top was still a little slick and whatever pan I put on (from stainless steel to cast iron) did slide a little. The other issue is now after 4 months of continuous use, the burner looks like it could be prone to rust. I plan to season it a little in the same way I season my cast iron skillet to see if it helps. Overall, I would recommend this. Just be careful with it- it is extremely hot once heated, so be sure it's placed well before using.

great when dont want to use my big stove. it is good for cooking for 1 or 2 people. use mine almost every day and cleaning is just wipe off with damp cloth.

It works great for what I purchased it for. The settings work wonderful and stay on the setting that I put it on.

I've been using the kind of hotplate that has the metal coil as it's surface and pans slide off of it very easily and I've had some disasters. So I spent a little more ($5 maybe?) and got this one because the picture on website looked like maybe the surface would provide a bit of friction to help keep pans in place and it did say "cast iron" so that sounded promising. No such luck. The top is just as slippery as the coil kind. One other thing-- it seems like it takes this item a little bit longer to cool down which is not a good thing when you are herding cats around it in a camper. These are made to not last very long so next time I may just go back to the cheaper model. This one heats up fine and does what you need it to do, so it's ok.

it takes 30min to heat up even on the highest settings. then cooks very slowly. if im making something for the toaster oven and using this to add a dish the toaster oven wins and by all rights it shouldn't! so i have to get started an hour before just to get this to heated up and Begin cooking. Then use the toaster oven. it works backwards!

They work ok but do not keep their highest temp constant. They are good for boiling water or cooking fast cooking meals like fillet fish but for meats the cooking is much longer and you need to check if cooked all the way through as these do not hold a constant temperature but cycle on and off that allows the heating area to cool in between cycles.

Does not get hot enough to boil water. Bought 2 hot plates. This one could not boil water. the other one boiled water this one did not even bubble . it says goes to 1000. would not even stay on that setting to get a boil. Not worth the time and effort.

this dang thing couldn't heat 2qts warm water in stainless steel saucepan to a rolling boil and kept shutting is itself off prior to boiling making noodles was impossible so its going back

I purchased this after my other hot plate broke, was drawn in by the positive reviews stating that “this is the best” I will have to say it is NOT as good as the reviews state, I’ve used this for a variety of meals and one thing that was very noticeable was that this appliance does not stay a consistent temperature resulting in Burnt or undercooked food. I do not recommend and I wasted my money on this. Do not do the same.

Con't review. Never received. Left at some one else's house. Refund was way too long. Seller/Shipper was not Walmart. Look for who the seller/shipper is before you buy.
