Mainstays never disappoints me. Their 8-Quart Stainless Steel Multi-Cooker is really a great cooker set. This set includes the main 8 quart stock pot, a steamer basket, a steamer insert, and a glass lid. I immediately used the steamer insert for spaghetti. It's large enough to cook a huge amount of spaghetti. And I was so happy, it also held several large ears of corn. And boy was it nice to just pull the steamer out to drain the water, rather than having to hold a lid on the top and try to drain it over the sink. The smaller steamer basket is perfect for steaming vegetables. I steamed several potatoes, and then steamed a batch of Potstickers, they came out perfect. Before I got this cooker I was just boiling my Potstickers but steaming them they came out so much better. The pot is stainless steel, aluminum base, with a glass shatter resistant lid. The stock pot is 8 quart, steamer basket is 9.25 by 2.6 inches, and the steamer insert is 9.75 by 7.0 inches.
omg! This steaming pot set is literally everything that I’ve been needing in my life !! I’m a seafood lover and always prefer to steam my food over boiling and baking , when I say this mater piece has created the best meal ever , there is no exaggeration there !! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it this steaming pot set to anyone who loves steamed veggies, seafood , chicken etc !! This is the best
The Mainstays Stainless Steel 8 Quart Multi-Cooker with Lid is great, this product works so well to cook so many things. I have made spaghetti, boiled potatoes, steamed vegetables and all of it came out perfect. This right here is the pot to own if you cook alot with water or steam food. It comes with a big basket for like spaghetti and a smaller one for steaming. The pot is nice and big. It's made very well with stainless steel. It has a nice lid also to put on top. This pot is very durable and will last a long time as long as you take care of it how you should. Everything that I have made in it comes out really good. I highly do recommend this pot especially when steaming or cooking other things in water. Its great!
This is a great multipurpose cooking pot. I love the size. It is perfect for making big batches of stews, soups or chili. It also is very versatile. Because of the two steamer inserts, I can steam two vegetables at once. I put corn on the cob in the bigger steamer insert and broccoli in the smaller basket and cooked them at the same time. I can also cook pasta in the larger steamer insert and vegetable in the additional basket at the same time which speeds up my cooking time and allows me to use less pots. This pot and it's inserts are made of stainless steel and are very good quality. I love the glass lid which does fit on the pot even with the inserts being used. The clean up is easy too. You can put all the pieces in the dishwasher or easily wash by hand especially if you are just steaming vegetables or making pasta. This a great pot that I will use a lot in my kitchen and I would definitely recommend it!
Works perfectly and its just the right size for us. Easy clean and absolutely love the easy way to drain with the steamer. I'm using it right now to cook chicken for Christmas Dressing stock.
love the concept just cheap will not return tho cause i used it. boiled my Macaroni and the steel was staining my pasta. i believe when the holes were put in it chipped away some of the coating which causes stains on food i just rinsed my pasta and keep the meal going and yes i washed before use
I loved it THEN opened it to wash it and it has all this black stuff on it. I scrubbed ut and scrubbed...pulled out a brilliant pad and scrubbed it until my arm hurt. the black spots don't come out. Looks like it was from when they made the holes in the stream basket.
All the little holes in the steamer baskets were coated with some kind of greasy black grime. I suspect metal dust from drilling the holes. I had to use an sos pad to scrub them off. Then i noticed a greasy grey grime on the inside of the pot when i wiped it with a paper towel after washing it. The top would not go in the top opening because the pot was out of round. The steamer basket doesn't work because the lid doesn't seal . I will return this and spend a little more to get something of better quality and safe to cook in.
I was so excited to get this pot but this thing is horrible. It rusted the first time i used it and the holes started to turn black and a black film came off when I wiped it. I strongly recommend against buying this product.
This pot/strainer combination had what appeared to be axle grease, probably from the factory machine that made hundreds of holes in the strainer to drain water, and elsewhere. I decided to fill the 8 quart pot with water and bring it to a boil for an initial cleaning before actually cooking food in it. While drying the pot with a clean white towel, there were three or four black splotches on the towel. After close inspection, there seamed to be small amounts of grease in countless perforations on the strainer, at the rivets attaching the handle to the removable strainer, and up under the machined lip of the main pot. Even though the strainer was in the boiling water, the grease was still attached. I tried for upwards of an hour cleaning each perforation, but decided it was not suitable for cooking food. The factory that manufactures these pots may not have inspected or regularly cleaned the machines they are made on, must not have inspected the final product, and might have used industrial water to rinse the finished product. I purchased the same identical set around February 2022 and had it in storage for a promised gift. After finding the grease on this recent purchase, I checked the gift pot also and could see grease before and after removing the clear factory wrapping. That pot was beyond the returnable time period, but I'm glad to have found the defective grease before giving it. Also, the removable steamer appeared to have had a sizeable dent that was pounded out like car body work, before being accepted for sale. Thanks to Walmart's refund policy, they gladly refunded in full for one pot!
