Marcy Recumbent Exercise Bike: ME-709

This bike is such a great workout for the average person. I have back problems and the strengthening of legs is a big help. Plus being able to ride any day any time is a major plus. Then I can just walk the dogs slow and short which is best for them.

Bought to help my recovery from Knee-replacement. So far it's been a help to have my own for the at home PT, between regular PT appointments. Wish I'd had it for the other knee 2 years ago. I have it set where I can watch TV while I exercise, which will help for weight loss when the healing is done. Also , It came 4 days before surgery and I was able to assemble it myself, (while husband wasn't home). Simply read the directions, tools were provided, had a little trouble with the cable, but worked it out. It was much easier for this 70 yr old to assemble by herself, than watching husband try to do it without reading directions.

We purchased this bike for my disabled daughter and the first time she attempted to use it, the bar on the back broke! It looks like a poor weld job because it broke in a perfect rectangle around the welded piece that connects to the frame. Very disappointed and very inconvenienced!

I ordered this bike from Walmart after seeing a very similar model at another store and being impressed with the compactness, durability, and simplicity of the bike. It came in one box and was easy to assemble; the instructions were clear and all of the holes matched up perfectly (very unusual in my experience). The computer is very basic and the controls don't work on mine, but I just remove/replace a battery to reset and all is good; it cycles through time, speed, miles, odo (total miles), and calories burned and is easy to read but is not backlit. I do wish that it had one position shorter for my wife with short legs, but it's ok. I was afraid that an elliptical may be too tiring (I'm 61) but this bike is relaxing enough that I use it every night and I can tell that it has helped already. If you are looking for a basic no-frills bike that is very well built I can highly recommend this one. I would give this bike 5 stars but am taking off one star because the computer controls don't work well.

The Marcy ME-709 bike is my first. My only other experience was going to a health club for a month & using both an upright and a recumbent. I found the recumbent type much more comfortable to spend time on. This bike isn't as comfortable as a health club one, but I imagine theirs cost thousands of dollars. This bike seems like a great buy for the money. One reason I chose it was that its weight limitation was 300 lbs, where most of the other lower priced ones had lower weight restrictions, which must mean not as durable. It is completely quiet, which I appreciate. It wasn't hard to assemble by myself. I discovered the seat back cushion had a small manufacturing flaw, and when I called the customer service number provided, the girl immediately offered to send me another seat back, without me even having to return the one I had. I just got it today, within the 10 days she said it might take. My only comment on the downside would be that it doesn't provide as much resistance on the highest setting as the health club bikes did, but I think that's understandable, and it's still enough to get me huffing & puffing. I'm satisfied!

This bike is amazing!!! I have been wanting to work out but have issues with my knees and feet. This bike allows me to finally get a great workout in quiet and comfort. It has the large display that shows all the goodies you want to know as you progress. I got it for myself as an early Christmas present. My son put it together for me by himself and he said it wasn't too difficult. It works super fantastical!!

I am morbidly obese and bought the bike because it said it held more weight. It was a little rough putting together, i couldnt get the wires to meetup, so i ended up using duct tape. It works perfect. I have been using everyday for 2 weeks now 15-30 minutes, and I have probably lost about 20 lbs. I was really nervous about my weight on it, but it has not been a problem at all. Not to mention the price is great!! I emailed the product info to a friend to hope she gets it! I highly recommend!!

Great, basic bike. The price was fantastic and free shipping was a plus. It arrived in only a few days. Assembly was fast, maybe 1/2 hour tops. Durable and stable. Does not take up a ton of space which is nice too. We have been using it daily for 3 weeks now and no complaints yet.

My wife has bad knees so her walking for exercise can be limited at times due to pain. When we are out walking or if she is using the treadmill her time is limited to about 20 minutes and the next day the pain really shows up. She found this bike on Walmart.com and wanted to give it a try. I am a DIY kind of guy so it took me maybe 45 minutes by myself to put it together. Simple, simple, simple. The first day my wife tried it out she went for 30 minutes and no knee problems and no pain the next day. We both like it because it is super quiet, easy to operate, and you can sit there, pedal away while reading a book, watching TV, or working on a laptop. The tension settings are easy to adjust and you can tell a difference from one number to the next. The only improvement I think could be made on it is the seat adjustment. My wife is 5'-5" and I am 6'-2" so an adjustment is needed each time we use it. A simple flip latch would have been perfect. It's a great piece of equipment for a very good price.

About 6 weeks after a total knee replacement I came across a sale ad for a recumbent bike. I had been using one at physical therapy twice a week and my therapist recommended I have one to use daily. I was pleasantly surprised at the quick delivery, high quality of the product, and ease of assembly! Oh yes, and it also works GREAT! Just what I needed. Started to 'loosen up' my knee right away. I have had it for about 3 weeks now, use it at least twice a day for 15 minutes and it's perfect! I found it hard to believe that there were so many overwhelmingly positive reviews when I first saw it. I buy allot on-line and seldom find a full 5-star item with 1000+ reviews. All those reviews were not exaggerated. If you're looking at this item, you need it. Stop looking, buy it!
