I have had a few smokers in my day, but this is the best. First out: brisket, sausage, ribs, pheasant, quail and chicken thighs. plenty of room and all were excellent.
Masterbuilt Smoker is GREAT!!!!! Uses half the wood chips prev. smoker did. Two problems, sometimes blows GFI and when it gets up to temperature shuts off and drops 50 degrees F and then goes back up to set temp., so you have to watch it. Does a perfect job, cooked a 7 lb. duck with dressing, it was delicious and we cold smoked farmers sausage and they turned out excellent.
This thing works great heats up to what ever temp you need. Easy to use. Only bad mark is I wish it was wider have to put ribs in at an angle.
Great bang for the buck! I had never done smoking before and I wanted something simple. So far, all of my foods A have come out great. This little smoker does the job!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned this vertical smoker for and last year purchased a second one just to bring camping. I have smoked everything from ribs to fish and always had great success in preparing flavorful delicious meals. I have done prime rib, venison summer sausage, beef roasts , turkey and many others. I would highly recommend this smoker for anyone that wants to use a smoker and not break the bank.
This is a great product gets the job done, very easy to assemble, I don't smoke to often so this is a great non expensive investment for recreational cooks
Smoker is much cheaper on the Masterbuilt's site. The temperature gauge is slightly damaged so it was not working. I have not seen where I can order placement parts.
Had the 40" analog smoker, used it for years, until Hurricane Harvey flooded us. 3' of water. But the smoker continued to work for 3 years, but finally gave it up. Bought the analog smoker, mainly because the 40" was too big for me. Wanted to try the analog because I'm not a "serious" smoker. So far so good.
This is our second Masterbuilt smoker. So this is kind of a review on two of them. The first one was a digital remote controlled with a glass door. After two times of use, it would not stay on after 15 - 30 minutes, and we would have to try setting it 3 - 4 times before it would actually stay on. It became a chore to smoke anything! So we ended up not using it for a couple of years. After moving we tried it again, and it would only stay on for 10 minutes. So..... Masterbuilt smokers have such a good reputation and we thought we got a lemon the first time, we thought we would try an analog version - one we could control directly. The first time we tried it, the temperature was set for 225 for a 3 hour recipe and it would not go higher than 200, and seemed to maintain mostly at 180 and we ended up smoking for almost 5 hours! The day was an upper 70s degree day with a slight breeze. We are just real disappointed!
This smoker is garbage. My power cord/temperature control light stopped working shortly after purchase. Now this smoker will not go above 212 degrees when the outside temperature is in the 60s. Definitely dont try to smoke in winter anywhere but Hawaii. Save your money and buy a real smoker.
