Western Premium BBQ Products Hickory BBQ Cooking Chunks, 570 Cu in

These work perfectly in my tabletop generic brand (mesa size by the big brand's comparison) fire pit / rocket stove. The size is perfect for about a 15 minute burn per each of the chunks when added one at a time (keeping in mind this is a fast burning smokeless rocket style fire canister) give or take on average. The smaller bits are perfect for arranging around a fire starter first. The smell is amazing and I would recommend these for cooking pork as well. I've only made hot dogs with them but they were the best I've tasted in many years. A couple of small pieces of bark did produce smoke and small flyaways, I would recommend picking them out. I got like 2-4 thumb sized flat pieces. Other than that, my smoke free pit is smoke free with these. I've bought more and will continue to keep these on hand for every day use on my porch/patio setup.

Solo Stove wants an absolutely outrageous cost for their mini logs. These Western hickory wood chunks work great in the Mess Solo Stove for a fraction of the cost. They burn down nicely to coals if I decide to use the Titan cooking ring from Solo Stove. I’m stocking up for warmer days in winter when I can enjoy a small fire outside.

This product is great for smoking smaller amounts of meat. Burns well, has great flavor and is a good value. I have smoked chicken, pork and beef and all were fantastic using Western wood chunks. I recommend the Cherry wood also.

Everyone in my neighborhood knows when I'm doing a bbq. That hickory smoke smell lingers throughout the neighborhood. The hickory taste gives my pork ribs , chicken, and picanya that delicious flavor boost. If you are a first time user start off with just a couple chunks ontop of your charcoal for that hickory flavor. Experiment with more or less everytime you bbq or smoke your meats.

We love to use these in our charcoal smoker along with charcoal to add delicious flavor and smells. The Hickory is our favorite one, and we love to use it with brisket. It makes it very smoky. We add about 4 pieces in the beginning, and 1 to 2 more while smoking and the brisket comes out extremely smoky flavored. Even before you light up the Hickory, you can smell it. The wood comes in all different sizes. Some you may even have to chop down a little bit depending on the size of your smoker. It is good quality wood and we would definitely purchase again.

I've been using Walmart's Western wood blocks for some time. I like how it produces a lot of smoke to infuse smoky flavor without being overpowering and there's a selection of wood to match the cuts of meats and fish plus you can't beat free shipping if you have Walmart .

so it's very nicely had a nice good hickory smoke taste on the turkey definitely use again every time

Box was opened, missing pieces

I hate to give a bad review but the whole box did not have any hickory. I've purchased this brand from another store but it was in bag, I bought this one thinking it was bigger and it wasn't and the bag actually had good hickory wood chunks. Guess I'll try my luck with getting a bag delivered to me hopefully that hasn't changed. I posted a pic of the wood still in the box and added a hickory chunk from the bag I already had and you can tell the difference. Walmart should return this product.

I ordered hickory chunks. The box seemed to be returned or something as 1/3 to 1/2 of it was missing it's contents. Here's a side by side hickory and mesquite chunks. Disappointing. Otherwise, western is a great brand to smoke your meats with!
