This has been a game changer for our fires. It gives us peace of mind to be using this more natural alternative, which is beneficial when it comes to avoid breathing fumes from a fluid, as well as not having to worry if a young child gets into it, as would be the case with the alternative products.
I was a bit skeptical about using these, especially for the price. Figured it was another hyped gimmick. Boy, was I wrong! I used 2 of these under the Oklahoma Joe Halftime Chimney Starter WITHOUT any lighter fluid and had hot coals in less than 15 minutes! I have a Weber chimney too and I bet that would only use one TumbleWeed. I don't like the smell of the lighter fluid on the coals. Knowing I won't have to use that any longer thrills me! These will be perfect to also pack up to take to the beach to start a campfire as well! No worry about leaking lighter fluid or a mess. As much as we like to grill, I wish these came in a larger box!
A human tested review. This product delivers a good fire starter and it has been a consistent one to rely on. Overall, I feel this is rather pricey because I have used tumbleweeds for years and seems you get less and less of them. (as usual) However, not all flame up good. When I start my wood stove fires, I build out a teepee sort of out of kindling and either Fat Wood or Tumbleweeds. Usually the tumbleweeds start faster and more robust. Gets it going fast. Sometimes I also untwist them and sprinkle it around the base of the kindling to start the fires too. Overall a good consistent product that doesn't smell bad or really waxy. I use matches to light my fires. Just Tumbleweeds and kindling of seasoned wood. Never used them for any grilling, not sure I would because of the wax etc. I have gotten tumbleweeds from other companies in the past and they didn't have wax - just the wood shavings - haven't found any. I only need One tumbleweed to get my wood stove fire going. That's a plus.
I've been using this tumbleweed fire starters for a while now, and they've quickly become my go-to for getting a fire going fast. They're small but surprisingly powerful. One piece lights up almost instantly and burns long enough to get even stubborn wood going without having to constantly blow on it. I also love that they're made from natural materials and don't have that chemical smell you get with some other fire starters. They're clean, easy to store, and not messy to handle. Whether I'm lighting the fireplace, the fire pit, or even the grill, they've been super reliable. Overall, these are one of those simple products that just work every time. Highly recommend if you want something quick, clean, and dependable for starting a fire.
Been using this for years. I like to untwist the tinder and make two or even three bundles out of one. Makes the box go further. It lights real good and stays lit for a good bit to get your kindling going. And a great price to boot. Can't go wrong using this stuff for fireplaces, fire pits , and grills.
I use these for my fire pit. They are the best I've used and would easily recommend them to friends and family. Starting the firepit is easy with these tumbleweeds. They take seconds do. I set it in place, start it, and walk off and it goes. They give off a slow burn with a constant flame. What I enjoy the most is that there are no chemicals, no fuels and nothing unnatural. Fire up and Go!
This is the only fire starter I ever buy for my charcoal grill. You only need one small bundle ("tumbleweed") per fire. Build a charcoal/wood "tent" around the fire starter. Light it with a match. Go back after a minute or two and your charcoal/wood should be up-and-burning hot. Perfect for grilling and camping -- lightweight to carry (no need for kindling) -- just keep it dry.
These little tumbleweeds are perfect. They get your fire started quick and easy so you can get to grilling quicker. And they're natural so your food comes out tasting better….not like you cooked it with a bunch of chemicals from some charcoal lighter fluid.
I was on a hunt for a more “natural” charcoal starter and these fit that. They are very easy to use, quick to light, and high effective. No more lighter fluid for my house.
Great product to have on hand to quickly start fires. Comes well packaged and ready to use. These are easy to pack and store. Can also be used to start grill.
