Mattel Games: The Official Phase 10 Tin

The card game of Phase 10 in the tin is great! The Tin protects the cards so they don't get bent or ruined.

Love this game we have been playing for years have been through 3 sets of cards this last set we got the new phase description card in the new pack is very confusing in what the phases are, they are just pictures not written out like the original ones were.

I love this game. Me and my twin played it all summer. The only problem that we had was seeing the yellow card numbers. The color is a pale yellow and needs to be a darker yellow (like a banana). It was hard to see at night with the glow of the lights. I outlined my yellow numbers with a black marker. It doesn't look good but it works for us. Also we keep a thing of powder nearby because they get hard to shuffle and the powder makes the easier. I have had these cards less then 2 months and they are fading fast!

Love this game and everyone I introduce it to also enjoys it. The only thing holding it back from 5 stars is the colour and font selection. The yellow is really hard to see for seniors. Not enough contrast. And the 6 and 9 could be a little more distinguishable from each other. Please, please darken the yellow cards. Even for us not visually challenged they're a pain to see in poor lighting.

My husband and I play Phase 10 every night after dinner. We started this during the pandemic. We are both competitive and enjoy the game. We have two problems; the yellow is very hard for him to see and the quality of the cards is terrible. We would gladly pay more for a deck of cards that doesn't fall apart after a few games.

We bought our deck in March of this year and by May we were already needing to replace the deck. We still haven't and the cards are terrible! The cards get LOTS of use!!

We have begun playing Phase 10 quite frequently between friends and family groups. Phase 10 is a terrific game, easy to learn but employing strategy. More complex and unique than standard Rummy games... although the value of points versus completed phases sometimes ends in anti-climactic games. However, the quality of the cards are terrible. The paper stock is too course to easily fan. Shuffling is difficult with out the smoother finish like on bicycle cards. While the overly animated cards faces are simply unappealing, the yellow is tremendously difficult for older people to see. And... I am certain these cards won't last long. I have looked for deluxe versions.. and they have nicer tins (as the tuck is cheaply made too) and scorepads, but the quality of the cards still seems poor. This is a shame as our Rook cards from Hasbro are similar to good Bicycle Playing Cards- high quality linen card stock, smooth finish, with vibrant colors. I wish Mattel would simply produce better cards. We would certainly buy them.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I liked the old version of Phase 10, they were made thicker, & better. The new ones are definitely made cheaper and they get old after broken in and the lasts only a few games. I have bought at least 6 if not more…I have tried to find the original card game…
