We loved our Ivysaur building set. It was a bit difficult for my six year old to build on his own due to the instructions being a little unclear and the colors of the bricks appearing a different color on the instructions. After it was built, however, it was very sturdy and durable. The colors are very vibrant and the pieces included were very nice, my son loved the pokeball. We were very pleased with this set. I gave this to my 7 year old son who is obsessed with Pokémon. He loved it! He had just as much fun building it as he did playing with it. It wasn't too easy or too hard for him to put it together. It was just challenging enough to keep him interested without getting frustrated or thinking it was too simple. He loves to play with it and takes pride in the fact that it's somehting he made himself. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I got this Pokémon Ivysaur mega construx toy for my daughter because she loves building toys and Pokémon. I was so glad to have found this toy for her and she was excited to put it together. It was easy for her to do and she immediately started playing with it after it was constructed. She cannot wait to get other Pokémon mega construx to go with this set so she can battle them. I would recommend this to anyone who loves Pokémon and even if they do not it is still a cute toy! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
My seven year old daughter and I had fun putting this together. I try to let her put these things together by herself just by following the instruction booklet but there were a few steps that she needed some help with. Although these are not the LEGO brand, I feel like they are pretty similar and to be honest, she didn't know the difference either. I would definitely purchase another set in the future. My kids loved this. They enjoy building things and this is one that was just enough of a challenge that kept their interest all the way to the end. A few of the pieces were hard to snap together for them, so I sat and watched them build until they needed help. They still play with this and it continues to be their favorite toy right now. My son just turned 6 years old and absolutely loved this toy! I had to help him put this together but it held his interest the whole time. I love that it teaches him to follow directions, the printed pictures and verbally. Also, this helps with fine motor skills of putting these little pieces together in the right places. I love the quiet time we get to spend together putting this toy together. He loves Pokemon so putting together this Ivysaur figure and play area was beyond fun and motivating. We have put together other building block sets in the past and this is very comparible. I am not sure if the pieces are compatible with one another as I didn't try. Once the set was built, he took off and began playing with it. So, I rate this play set as a success! I felt the set was of good quality and would recommend it especially if you were on the fence buying this compared to other brand's building block sets. Learning through playtime! Although there was a lot of packaging, the parts were easy to sort according to the instructions. My seven-year-old was able to put this together easily. The toy is cute; looks just like the picture. This is our first blocks toy, so we discovered that they aren't really for playing, but for displaying. The sphere got lost since it kept rolling away, but the rest is still together a month on. The pieces fit together easily, except for the teensy one-bump circles, which were too tight a fit for my kid to do. Cute, easy to build, looks great. My son loved the Mega Construx Charmeleon and Charizard sets we had bought for him, and this Ivysaur set is the perfect addition. These Pokemon building sets are the perfect amount of pieces for his age (6 years old) and are simple enough for him to do mostly by himself, while still being somewhat challenging. We love that the Mega Construx blocks stay together once they are built and aren't constantly falling apart like other building sets sometimes do. My Pokemon fan was very happy with this toy. My daughter was initially excited about this, but quickly lost interest and put it in the big box to be absorbed with the rest of the legos. It might be great for another child that enjoys Pokémon characters a lot! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
The blocks though small are easy to arrange and dismantle. The directions that came along with the box were very clear with blocks packaged very neatly. My six year old enjoyed completing this activity. It could have been much better at an engagement level if there was another character involved may be a baby ivysaur to create the Father Son roaming narrative.
