After many years we replaced our weather alert radio. This radio allows us to program the areas we need to know about and will not wake us for alerts we don't need to be concerned about. I like that I can program in local radio stations and has an alarm clock also.
My fav weather radio as well as many of my friends and family have the same WR400 model and we all love it. Super simple setup, single or multiple county choices in the setup, Absolutely the best bang for the buck out there.
Bought this for my wife, who is running a business for us in the midwest in tornado alley. After she was surprised by a tornado siren one evening, I decided I needed her to have something that could warn her of approaching storms, etc in the area. The rado allows you to include surrounding counties as monitored areas. Was fairly easy to set up. Wife feels more secure, now that she knows she will have early warning of any severe weather there and in the surrounding areas
I have had this product for over a week an I am very pleased with it. The only two incidences of problems I've noticed is that when setting up the radio, it glitched out for some reason and I had to take out the batteries and reset it. It is unknown to me what caused the glitch but is presumed to be the overloading of some of the inputs. I have not had this glitch since then. There is also the problem that whenever I plug the phone in with the radio turn on, I hear more static and I have to remove it in order to get clearer audio. Other than that, I have no other problems with it. The reception is excellent. The alarm feature works so nicely that I have decided to use it in place of my cell phone. I am very happy with this product.
I really like it! I find it easy to program %26 set-up. It can be customized in so many ways. I like that it has the specific area message encoding (s.a.m.e.) feature. The AM/FM radio adds to its versatility. I also like that it has a headphone jack.
This product is easy to get set up. Had mine set up for my truck in minutes. I have one at home and I now have one for on the road. Highly recommend this product if you love weather, storm chase, or just want to have peace of mind while you sleep knowing a tornado won't relocate your house while you are still in it.
Product is fine. Set up is much too complicated. If you choose a wrong area, it is extremely difficult to delete or replace. Still haven't determined how to accomplish.
I wanted a decent weather radio. But plugged in the backup batteries for the clock die in days. Static on NOAA frequencies and worse at a Clear Channel Radio Station a couple of miles from me. The brand name is just sold to the highest bidder, it is not like the old original Midland radios. With this severe heat I had better notifications from my Amazon Alexa than from this “Midland”, no alert in this severe heat when had 4 alerts from Alexa.
It barely picks up any of the emergency channels. The ER310 literally sitting on top of it picks up multiple channels. The WR120 even picked up channels where this one is located but it died. Very disappointed. I should have just gotten another WR120.
This is the third Midland Radio we have purchased. We bought this specifically for the NOAA Alert. That alone. Have contacted Midland Customer Service numerous times. NOAA Alerts do NOT come through on this radio. For that matter, neither does it on the 310 unless the 310 is unplugged. Do Not Buy This Radio If You Need NOAA Alerts!
