At first Finn was just sniffing around it. And he poked it with his nose a couple of times. Just when I thought he was going to give up(see first picture). Out comes his treat. He is always trying to steal the cat's food so I put some cat food in it. Only down side is now he rolls it up to my chair. Waiting for a refill. Going to get one for my cat and put a small amount of catnip in it along with a treat.
This is a really fun way to feed treats. It is very easy to load the ball and stays put together very well. Our dog loved nosing it all around the floor to make the treats fall out, and really enjoyed the pleasure of eating them. Even though our dog is pretty large, I think this would work just as well for a small dog.
Kingston moved and was anxious, Walmart.com recommended this toy as I was ordering a gift for him. I bought it and the treat's that were also recommended, along with the original toy I wanted for him. It arrived today and Kingston will have a lot less anxiety, because he loved everything, the delivery, the package, the ball and the treat's. His other gift doesn't arrive until next week, but I don't think he's missing anything at all.
Although this says "dog" toy, I found my cat enjoys this slow treat dispensing toy just as much as my dog. Only problem I have with it concerns my 80 pound dog. He wants to pick it up and toss it. Because it is a hard plastic, I'm afraid it will splinter or break. Please note, we do have tile flooring. Carpeting would be fine. May damage hardwood floors. Plus side is that it has a treat control setting and you can throw it in the dishwasher. I would recommend this toy.
I ha e a very large dog and this ball kept her entertained and her mind-engaged. You can twist off the side panel for easy filling. Ball can be adjusted to dispense treats out of 1 or 2 holes simultaneously. Be sure to viy the appropriate size treats so that they are able to fall out of the holes easily while your pooch rolls the ball around. So far it has proven to withstand the abuse of my dog and keeps on rolling !
Usually my Phoebster (45 lbs English Foxhound) destroys her toys within a matter of hours! But the Nerf puzzle treat ball has made it several days and is still giving her a run for her money! A bit beaten and battered but still holds it's own! It has 3 doors for the treats to come out of. Two on one side and one on the other. My only problem with it was that the top would easily pop off within minutes letting the treats fall out. I remedied this by super gluing it in place and just put her treats in by way of the little doors.
I like this treat ball because it is easy to clean and you can put it in your dishwasher. My dog kind of liked it but he got bored with it very easily. It is made of hard plastic and he couldn’t pick it up he thought it was a ball to play with and the treats came out very easily and he ate them of course but most of them came out quickly and then he was done he looked around the floor for some more and just walked away from the ball. We were following directions about how to get the lid to stay on with out any luck it just kept falling off we were turning the center collar to hear a click to get the settings to rotate but it wasn’t clicking we could not figure out what we did wrong or maybe it’s defective not sure. I like the fact that it was made in the US.
The slow feeder ball could have been better. It is hard plastic and I would have liked it better if it was rubber. There are 3 openings. You can set it at hard with only 1 hole open or easy with 2 holes open. It is easily rolled by my dog. It was easy to put treats in. It works pretty good and keeps my dog working for treats. I feel like it would be safer if it was made out of rubber or some other type of soft material. It was a little hard to clean. After washing and drying, I can still hear water inside somewhere. It takes a while to dry. Overall, It is an okay toy but could be improved.
It's a great idea. My mistake was I used the big opening for distribution. After my French Bulldog puppy hurriedly emptied the ball, I used it to roll around for play on my deck. It broke! Now, I'm having difficulty getting the top to stay on. Popped it on %26 couldnt get the openings to rotate. So, I had to dislodged the top with a knife.
This Slo-Feeder dog toy is great in concept but not durable. I have a 40 pound Standard Poodle who really enjoyed the mental stimulation the slow feeder provided but the release chamber shifted easily and made it quite difficult to distribute the treats. The blue Latex/plastic portion of the feeder is easily shredded with minimal play time. I used the feeder only twice because I didn't want my pet ingesting plastic material. Overall I would not recommend this Slow Feeder.
