Nespresso Vertuo Next Coffee and Espresso Maker by De'Longhi, Glossy Black

Awesome espresso/coffee maker. So much variety in the drinks you can make. Perfect for espresso lovers who don't want the hassle/expense of the more traditional espresso machines. Plus the pods are recyclable. Lots of variety in regard to pod flavor selection. I can't wait to try them all!

From the moment I set it up, it was clear this machine was designed with simplicity in mind. There's virtually no learning curve, pop in a capsule, press a button, and a beautifully rich cup of coffee is ready in seconds. No fussing, no complicated settings. What really impressed me is the capsule selection. There's genuinely something for every mood and taste, whether you want a bold espresso or a longer, smoother brew. I love that I can switch it up depending on what I'm craving that day. It's become a staple in our morning routine. Highly recommend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have only had this coffee maker for 1 week and only make 2 cups a day but so far I am very impressed. Makes a great cup of coffee thats far superior to coffee made by a Keurig machine (regardless of coffee pods). Easy to setup and super easy to use. It took me several years to finally cut the cord and dump 3 Keurig machines to test this Nespresso machines. 2 others will be ordered shortly. I also loved the fact that if you run out of water part way through brewing the machine will stop and allow you to refill the water reservoir, press the brew button again and it brews the exact amount required for a full cup.

I am on my third Nespresso machine, the latest being a Pop. Just tossed that one in the trash this morning, after it stopped working and made a huge mess on my counter by leaking coffee all over. These machines do not last. I love the coffee but these machines are not durable. I clean it regularly, despite the cleaning cycle being complicated to engage. I get that with a small compact machine, there is no room for a "cleaning cycle" button. However, the instructions require watching the video each and every time. It's a ridiculous sequence of turning the handle and pressing the button in multiple presses. I am thinking of going back to a manually operated espresso machine.

I bought this machine a little over a year ago, was working perfectly fine, kept it clean. The other day, an entire coffee pod was poured through the bottom of the machine. Tried cleaning it and the solution went through the bottom as well. Created an mess. This was my second time getting this machine, as last one died at the 2 year mark. I don't know what do, have a lot of pods but the machines break down. Big let down with these machines. Have now went through 3 machines in about a 5 year time frame.

If you want a cute decoration, but something that doesnt work-- this machine is for you. I should have followed my intuition when I first it-- the opening mechanism seemed very cheap and not smooth at all, but I loved the yellow color they offered. I bought my vertuo pop+ last april, but did not start using it until August in college-- after about 6 months of use, the opening mechanism got very stiff. Now, 2 months later I have to forcefully open and close it with 2 hands its so stiff. Once closed it blinks red each time so I have to open and close it about 2-3 times to adjust with each brew before it will work. Like I predicted, the opening mechanism is very cheap and honestly just poorly designed. I have performed all the suggested maintenance in my instructions within the intervals stated, and it still makes coffee that is warm, not hot with huge amounts of foam. My family has a VertuoPlus deluxe and that has held up for years-- get this instead. I started the process to claim a warranty for my machine, but unfortunately I was 20 days too late -- Sad because its basically useless now after 10 months. Unfortunately its a beautiful machine and would be perfect for my small apartment, but not if it doesn't work...

I don't often write reviews, but I was so disappointed in the new Vertuo Up. I will say that I like the design and that it warms up in just a few seconds (an improvement over the 30-second warm up of my last machine). But overall, this machine is much worse quality than any other Nespresso machine I've purchased. The design has the pods drop straight down into a basket but lots of water falls into that basket/tray, too, which causes mold since there is no ventilation unless you clean it daily. It also splashes a ton when pouring the coffee into your cup; not sure if that is the design of the spout or the length the coffee has to fall, but especially on my “pearl white” machine, that means I have to wipe down the machine after each use. The quality of the coffee appears to be the same as with my previous machines, but given the design issues and daily cleaning required, I am already considering replacing my Vertuo Up with another machine (after only a couple months).

The Vertuo Up has an attractive, slender design for countertops where space is precious. I especially appreciate opening the Nespresso Smart app to prep. the machine for cleaning and descaling. With prior machines, I'd have to re-learn the procedure every time. Completely downhill from there. Disposing of pods creates a mess every time, with the tray assembly typically filled with residual coffee that dribbles everywhere as you make yourself to the sink. The pods themselves are wet and for those of us that enjoy the recycling process, even getting the pods into the bag creates an additional mess. This is our 4th machine since coming aboard with Nespresso and by far the worst machine thus far to work with. I have zero interest in investing in a 5th machine just to return to another machine so I'm stuck.
