Works great out of box with my GMC Sierra 2006. It was super easy to install, just hooked up to the trucks Oem harness and connected the other swc end to my boss dual din head unit. It auto learned the GMCs steering audio control, I did not have to change any programming modes. Just keep the driver side door open before turning the key on after first hooking up this unit to the oem harness. Retains all the original warning audio haptic feedback and provides acc/accessory power that shuts off the radio power once key is out of the ignition

Initially I was having problems with the controller, so I downloaded the phone app to update the firmware on it. That still didn't fix my issues of it not talking to the radio. I called their support number and spoke with them and they said to download the desktop version of the update software and it would let me change characteristics of the controller. I did that and was able to manually select the radio manufacturer and save it to the unit. This completely solved my problems with it. If you have any issues with this controller call Metra up and they'll help you out. Knowledgeable and friendly support.

Looked good and sturdy

When I go to adjust volume up or down I press the button once but the signal continues and the volume continues increasing or decreasing on its own.

I received an item that was used. I had the dash pulled apart so I had to try it but it was defective.

Only work up to 2007 Silverado not 08-and up.
