I already have a perfectly good cast iron reversible grill/griddle. But it is large (covers 2 burners) and heavy and a pain to clean. With our kids grown, I no longer need its generous size. And I would rarely pull it out to use because of its weight and my concerns about needing to clean and reseason it after use. So I was looking for something smaller, lighter, and (most importantly) easy to clean. Nonetheless, I was hesitant about ordering this grilling pan. While most reviewers said it was easy to clean, a minority said it was difficult. One said it didn't heat evenly. Most concerning, one person said it does not work on a glass cooktop. I am happy to report that I bought it anyway and am completely pleased! While it is sturdy, it is not heavy. I made my dinner of green beans with bacon and a sirloin steak and they came out great. The pan cooked evenly without problems on my glass cooktop with nice sear marks on the steak. And it was far easier to clean than either my cast iron grill or a broiler pan. (Though not quite as easy as my teflon sautée pan.) Comparable to a stainless steel skillet. All at a completely reasonable price. Overall, a good purchase that I expect to use often for many years.
I used to have a cast iron pan similar to this however, if you're familiar with cast iron at all, they are very tempermental. You have to season them, wash them a specific way, make sure they are totally dry as soon as you're done washing, and so on. Well, that pan ended up in the garbage. I love the Nordic Ware grill pan because it's ceramic coated. No Teflon Flu to worry about and it's still non-stick. I don't have to pamper it and it goes straight in the dishwasher. (Well, I do have to pamper it in terms of not using any utensil that would scratch the coating.) It does a great job of searing steaks, chops, fish and whatever you need seared. Plus you can continue cooking meal in the pan until it's done. I just like the convenience of how easy it is to care for while getting the same results I used to get from my cast iron grill pan. I have several pieces of Nordic Ware pans for baking. This is my first cooking pan. But I can depend on Nordic Ware because of their quality and I don't think twice when I see that brand name. Once again, Nordic Ware has not let me down. Highly recommend this!
I used it as soon as I got it. It was not too heavy for me yet very sturdy. It cooked evenly. I grilled eggplant on it the first time. But I intend to grill many other things on this pan. I highly recommend it.
Surprised by weight which is nice because it doesn't warp like other alum. based pans. Heavy, nice ridges, super easy to clean, and good heat distribuition. Just what I was looking for for stove top grilling.
This was exactly what I was looking for! Easy to cook with and clean up. Would highly recommend this.
It was sturdy, but I had a feeling it might scratch my induction cooktop. The price doesn't seem reasonable.
I bought this because it is easier to clean than my cast-iron grill pan, but the quality isn't that great, the grill “grates” aren't tall enough to properly grill your meat. And the exterior of the pan on the bottom side has started to flake off after only two uses.
Brand new delivered from the store and it has a chip on the surface. It bummed me because the pan is really pretty with a good weight. I still want to try it so I will pick one myself at the store and make sure it has no defects.
Definitely disappointed due to the fact it's extremely hard to clean even using low heat and following all the directions. I used it four times and threw it away.
Pan heats up too quickly and burns your food, not for an electric stove perhaps a gas stove pan needs to sit up on the stove or grill. Won't recommend.
