I bought this chopper/slicer for its safety features; however, I was a bit disappointed with the chute size. It's quite small.
I've used it three times now, and I had to cut most of the vegetables I wanted to slice in half or quarters because they wouldn't fit in the chute whole. I needed to slice a box of tomatoes for a large barbecue we had on Easter. Over half the tomatoes in the box were too large, though they were not huge tomatoes. I had to cut the medium-sized tomatoes in half before putting them in the chute, and the slices did not come out very well. The mangled slices did not look very appealing to serve for people's hamburgers. The slices from the smaller tomatoes looked okay, as they came out as round slices. I also used the slicer for cucumber salad, and that went okay, as the long, narrow cucumbers fit fine. The rest of the veggies for that salad were chopped, so it was okay to cut them up before putting them in the chute for diced pieces.
So, the point is, if you're mostly using this for chopping, it works great for that. However, if you want perfectly sliced veggies, such as potatoes, onions, or tomatoes, you're either going to have to use very small vegetables or another type of mandolin slicer.
