Oneida Commercial Easy Crank Can Opener Heavy Duty With Ergonomic Design, Black

I struggled with my old can opener, and dreaded when I had to open a can. This Oneida commercial can opener came and I was dubious about what all the info on it touted. I thought here goes … it probably won't work! Much to my surprise the ease and comfort I had opening the can was amazing. I would highly recommend this can opener to both the young and the elderly. It absolutely is a dream now to open cans…. No more dreading the task.

Very user friendly. Makes opening cans very, very easy. No struggle to use with a big easy to use handle. It is rather big and doesn't fit in my drawers but I don't mind that.

I buy the 1-gal pinto beans at Sams. This works well. The one I had before fell apart. I will be more observant when the nut gets loose. This works well.

Well I'm not as young as I used to be. This works perfectly for me. I don't have as much strength in my hands and wrists as I use to. This can opener will work on any size can easily and quickly. No more searching for can openers, (manual or electric) that actually work and will last awhile. It will work better for you even if you are still younger than me.

Let me start by saying I suffer from arthritis in my joints, and it specially effects my hands. On cold winter days, the thought of opening a can with a manual can opener makes me cringe. I used to use electric ones, but they are bulky and take up too much space. I am a minimalist and like to only keep the basic necessities in my kitchen – nothing on the counter. When the packaging for this easy crank can opener said “extra simple” they were not lying. It really doesn't take much work. Instead of turning a knob and using force with your fingers, you just crank it. Most of the “work” is in your arm, not your hand. It cranks super smooth and the teeth keep a really good grip on the can's edge so I didn't need to worry that if I let up on the crank the can would fall and spill. I have been really impressed. No pain in my hands. I only have one complaint. Because of the large crank handle, you have to be really strategic on how you fit it into a standard kitchen drawer. If laid in the drawer wrong, you can't close it. I posted a picture of how when laid on its side, the handle sticks out of the drawer. There is only one way it fits in and allows the drawer to close. If you have an elderly parent or suffer from arthritis or fibromyalgia, I would highly suggest this can opener. Kids would love it to.

Its works ok but I think it was shipped from overseas in a soft pack, so it may break from the trauma of that journey, If I had known it was NOT coming from my area Walmart I would not have ordered it.

I think this is a commercial grand can opener. Regular size cans aren't heavy enough to hold it steady.

i am so disgusted and disappointed with this canopener. It is not like the old ones. Most cans it will not cut around the whole can. It leaves uncut sections, usually one on each side. Unfortunately, I didn't use it much. I think it worked fine until it was too late to return and then started doing this. I haven't had it that long though. Not grandma's can opener!! These bass turds!!

I was hoping this would help my 85yo Mom be able to open cans easier... But it only cuts the can edges now and then, so then I have to use our other cheap can opener to go behind it. But I bought an electric can opener and it arrived today. Hopefully this will be the solution.
