Oru Kayak Foldable Kayak Lake | Lightweight, Portable & Stable - Lake and River Kayaks - Perfect for Beginner Paddlers

Great kayak! I've taken it out on the water three times so far and was surprised by how stable and maneuverable it was, even in waters with a current or in a larger boat's wake. The boat truly is easy to assemble/disassemble and I can do each in under 10 minutes (probably closer to 5). Like others have said, it's not the most comfortable, with a thin seat and back support held up by adjustable straps, but I bet there are some ways to make it more comfortable. Overall, extremely happy with this boat, as it makes it so convenient to get out on the water!

I can get on the water in minutes now and not be completely spent from setting up an inflatable or the inconvenience of a hard shell. Since purchasing this a month ago we have have been on the water over a dozen times and it's been great!

I took my new Oru Inlet Lake onto my pool after assembly just to test it out. Putting it together was fun and exciting for me and I think I'll get better and better at it the more I practice! I cannot wait to get this thing out on the makes nearby! I'm thrilled!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was worried it would be more complicated than it looked on the tutorials but I was pleasantly surprised when it only took 5 minutes out of the car and I was ready to go! Super easy to carry and also very easy to use on the water.

I took my Oru Lake out the day it came in the mail! I was so excited. Assembly was super easy as promised. Not exactly 1-3 mins, but with practice I'm sure I'll get there. Super light! Easy to take out on the lake by myself. Big upgrade from the inflatable kayak I used last year. Out of the box the Lake model has an extremely uncomfortable seat. Poor support and I kept sliding around everytime I tried to adjust. The seat replacements/augments that are sold on the website are not made for the Lake model. Bummer! The Oru Lake is a bit tippy to be moving around and adjusting that much. The Lake model does not have a foot rest and you are essentially sitting flat on the hull. Killed my back! I was very disappointed and was seriously considering returning it. I read some forums and the after market foot rest was suggested. The difference was astonishing! With the addition of the foot rest I am no longer considering returning my Oru Lake. The kayak is much more stable and easier to control. The foot rest also adds some more power to your padding. I would not suggest this kayak without the foot rest. Maybe the company should consider bundling the foot rest with the kayak instead of the paddle.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Oru Lake is a nice, very basic boat that is convenient to carry and deploy. It is marginally easier to paddle and much quicker to set up than an inflatable kayak. It stayed surprisingly dry inside due to the Oru paddle drip guards--could have paddled in street clothes. It also draws hardly more than two inches of water, which is good for the tidal bayous I often paddle. The high gunnels (relative to an SOT kayak) mean I have to carry the paddle higher, which is more tiring, but to expected given the design. Probably should have gone with the Inlet for the better performance.

I've taken my kayak out for two trips so far and I love it. Portable, packs up easy, it's great but after the second trip, the strap to carry it ( like the suitcase strap one) broke. Half of it broke off the screw and washed it attached in the kayak. Other than that like the rest of the boat is intact. I guess I could fix it but that'd be only complaint.

Love the idea of this boat, the weight, the size, and relative ease of getting it set up (video instructions could be improved, written instructions were pretty much useless). Unfortunately, one of our seams isn't quite straight. Didn't think it would be a problem until the boat went into the water. The outside water pressure caused the seam on the left front to pop back in, and the left rear to bow out. The boat is pretty much unusable and water lapped inside (on a relatively calm day). This boat was bought for my daughter, who is a paddling instructor, so not exactly a novice. She was really impressed when she saw others with this boat and so we purchased it as a gift for her 25th birthday. We set it up once in the house (took under 15 minutes, mostly because trying to figure out the directions), packed it back up, and she took it down to a small lake for the maiden voyage with the above mentioned results. Took photos of the problem seam, emailed them to Oru (twice), left a phone message, used their online "chat," and no-one will respond (It's been a few days now). Side note: the link on the website to register your boat for the warranty is broken. Chat was able to send me a link that worked, so you may have to do that to register yours. Overall, we are obviously pretty disappointed in this company at the moment. I'll update my review when this is resolved (will hopefully have better news).

I used it one time and had to stop 5 times to dump the water that was in it! Sooooo sad and disappointed wasting all this money hopefully I can get a refund and return because I'm so sad and upset with this purchase. I've heard great things and love the idea but it did not work at all!!
